Google Checks Out Sooner Practice

May 06, 2011 | Football

NORMAN, Okla. -- Our recent discovery (first shared on OU's Twitter and Facebook feeds) of the 45-degree satellite imagery from Google maps showing OU's facilities -- and the Sooners stretching on the football practice fields -- caused a stir and aroused our curiosity on how other teams' stadiums were presented.

Google's satellite pass below appears from August or September of 2009 (construction updates to the locker room, equipment room and Red Room are wrapping up on the football facilities under the south end zone).

Check out the images and links below to the home fields of all 12 of OU's 2011 opponents (schedule released on Thursday). It appears only the Sooners have the honor of being depicted in action near the stadium.

For Texas, we show the traditional Cotton Bowl setting for the Red River Rivalry. Interesting to note that Texas' stadium in Austin is the only other stadium afforded the 45-degree enhanced imagery from Google. No sign of Coach Brown or the Longhorns however.

To the chagrin of opponents, no word on whether Google zoomed in further to see game plans in Coach Stoops' pocket.
