NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma senior outfielder Elliott Blair was named to the Capital One Academic All-District VI Baseball Second Team released on May 6 by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Blair was one of seven players from the Big 12 Conference to appear on the first or second team.
The Argyle, Texas, native was a first team honoree in 2010 and was later named a third team Academic All-American last season, the 12th in program history.
With two all-district accolades, Blair joins Aaron Ivey (2006 and 2007) and Casey Bookout (1998 and 1999) as the only Sooners in OU baseball history to repeat as an honoree.
An eight-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll (3.0 GPA or higher in each semester), Blair has played in 20 games this season with a .368 batting average and is majoring in petroleum engineering.
Honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale) in BOTH undergrad and graduate work and participated in 50 percent of the team's games at the time of the nomination.
Blair and the Sooners return to action this weekend at home in a Big 12 series against Kansas. Friday's series opener is slated for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch at L. Dale Mitchell Park. Saturday's game is set for 2 p.m. and Sunday's finale gets underway at 1 p.m.
