NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma golfers Taylor Schmidt and Mariah Montoya are set to compete as individuals in the Quail Creek Classic April 4-5 (Monday-Tuesday) at the Quail Creek Golf and Country Club in Oklahoma City.

“I'm really excited about this opportunity for Taylor and Mariah to compete,” said OU head coach Veronique Drouin. “This will be a great event for them, especially with it being played so close to Norman.”

Schmidt will be competing for the first time since undergoing ACL surgery last November. The sophomore started in four fall tournaments for the Sooners and looks to start her post-recovery play off strong at the Quail Creek Classic.

“I'm ecstatic to have an opportunity to play in this tournament and get back to playing the game I love,” said Schmidt. “I'm feeling great and ready to go represent the Crimson and Cream with pride.”

Drouin is also anxious to see how Schmidt fairs in her return to the competitive golf.

“I'm looking forward to see how Taylor does,” said Drouin. “She's been playing really well in practice and I'm excited to see how it transitions to the course.”

Montoya will be appearing in her second tournament of her collegiate career. The freshman tied for 31st place in the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic last fall.

The 36-hole tournament, hosted by Oklahoma City University, is free and open to the public. Schmidt and Montoya will tee off beginning at 8:00 a.m. CT.
