NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma women's golf team continues to rewrite the program's record book as the Sooners finished in third place at the UNLV Spring Invitational after firing a third-round 289 (+1) Wednesday at Boulder Greek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev. Oklahoma's 54-hole score of 863 (-1) broke the program record by nine strokes.
The Sooners, ranked No. 21 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, placed three golfers in the field's top 10 in their fifth top-three finish of the season. OU's performance marked the first time in program history that it has finished a three-round tournament under par.
"I'm really proud of how our girls played this week," said OU head coach Veronique Drouin. "We made some crucial birdies coming down the stretch and played solid throughout the week. To break the 18, 36 and 54-hole records all in one tournament is something very special."
The Sooners broke the program's record for lowest round when they shot a 282 (-6) Monday. Their two-round score of 574 (-2) through Tuesday's round broke the program's 36-hole record.
No. 18 Pepperdine shot -20 to win the 15-team event by 14 strokes over second-place BYU. Pepperdine's Danielle Kang and BYU's Kelsey Vines finished at -10 to tie for first out of the 85 individuals.
Brooke Collins, Chirapat "Ja" Jao-Javanil and Ellen Mueller each finished the tournament under par. Collins and Jao-Javanil tied for fifth place with career-low three-round scores of 213 (-3).

Collins, who had shot career-low scores in the first two rounds, shot a third-round 72 (E). The Louisville, Colo., product shot well below her 79.13 career stroke average, shooting par-or-better in all three rounds.
"Brooke played great," said Drouin. "She's been working very hard and it's definitely paying off."
Jao-Javanil collected her third top-eight finish of the season thanks to three straight birdies to end her final round. The Thailand native has yet to finish outside of the top 15 in her collegiate career (six tournaments).
Senior Ellen Mueller shot a third-round 74 (+2) to finish in ninth place with a 1-under 215. Mueller has finished in the top 10 four times this season and 14 times throughout her career.
Freshmen Anne-Catherine Tanguay and Emily Collins each shot a 74 (+2) in Wednesday's round. Tanguay finished in a tie for 22nd place with a 222 (+6) and Collins tied for 42nd place with a 228 (+12).
"We've been practicing really hard which really showed in this week's tournament," said Drouin. "We'll continue to practice hard and keep striving to improve."
The Sooners will compete next at the MountainView Invitational in Tucson, Ariz., March 25-26.
