NORMAN, Okla. - The 10th-ranked University of Oklahoma softball team scored eight runs in the second inning as the Sooners (18-5) routed the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, 9-0, in five innings at the OU Softball Complex. Oklahoma got a complete game shutout from Keilani Ricketts, her fourth straight shutout start. Ricketts allowed just three hits and one walk, while striking out 13.

Chana'e Jones drove in three runs, highlighting a 2-for-3 night. Haley Nix also brought home two runs, also finishing 2-for-3 at the plate. Jessica Shults scored two runs, reaching base on twice on walks drawn.

Shults walked to lead off the second and Nix singled down the right field line before advancing to second on a fielding error. With two runners in scoring position, Shults scored on a groundout.

OU then went on a tear, scoring seven runs with two outs. Back-to-back walks from Cierra Hughes and Ali Vandever loaded the bases for a line-drive single right back to the pitcher by Destinee Martinez to score Nix. Hughes then scored on a passed ball and Jones brought home Vandever and Martinez on a single down the left field line.

Brittany Williams and Shults drew back-to-back walks to load the bases for Nix's second at-bat of the inning. She capitalized on the first pitch, bouncing a single down the right field line to score Jones and Williams.

Katie Norris then reached on an error that scored Shults before the inning ended with the Sooners leading 8-0.

Oklahoma added another run in the third. Martinez reached on a fielder's choice and moved to second on a wild pitch before Jones' single brought her home for the final run of the night.

Lauren Menke was 1-for-1 for Tulsa with a single. Menke also drew a seventh-inning walk. Lacey Middlebrooks (5-2) pitched 2.0 innings, allowing four hits, five walks and two strikeouts. Seven of the eight runs she allowed were earned.

Oklahoma continues its homestand this weekend with the Oklahoma Spring Festival. OU opens play Saturday at 3:30 p.m. CT against Indiana. Live stats are available at SoonerSports.com.
