NORMAN, Okla. – The 20th-ranked Oklahoma women's golf teams tees off in the 18-team MountainView Collegiate March 25-26 (Friday-Saturday) at the par-72 MountainView Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz.

The Sooners are coming off of a third-place finish at the UNLV Spring Invitational (their fifth top-three finish of the season), a tournament in which they set multiple records. Oklahoma set program standards for 18-, 36-, and 54-hole scores and look to continue its hot streak in Tucson.

“We are excited to get back into tournament mode,” said OU head coach Veronique Drouin. “It seems like it has been a while since we last competed. We're coming off of an incredible performance and have been practicing on our short game quite a bit to improve even more.”

The 54-hole MountainView Collegiate, co-hosted by the University of Colorado and Colorado State University, is stacked with Big 12 opponents, giving the Sooners an opportunity to see where they stand in preparation for the Big 12 Championship.

“Once again, we are playing in a great tournament field which includes a lot of Big 12 teams,” said Drouin. “It will help to gauge where we are in the league and help us prepare for the conference tournament next month.”

The tournament field features eight other Big 12 schools: No. 16 Iowa State, No. 28 Colorado, Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska and Texas Tech. Comprising the rest of the field are No. 13 Arkansas, No. 38 Minnesota, Colorado State, Gonzaga, Indiana, Oregon State, San Jose State, Texas State and Wyoming.

Oklahoma will be led by freshman Chirapat “Ja” Jao-Javanil, competing at the No. 1 position for her third straight tournament. The Thailand native collected her third top-eight finish of the season two weeks ago at the UNLV Spring Invitational and has yet to finish outside of the top 15 in her collegiate career (six tournaments).

Junior Brooke Collins, who tied for a career-best fifth place with Jao-Javanil at the UNLV Spring Invitational, will start at the No. 2 position. Collins recorded back-to-back career-low rounds in the UNLV tournament en route to a career-low 54-hole score of 213 (-3).

Ellen Mueller will begin play at the No. 3 position. The senior has finished in the top 10 four times this season and 14 times throughout her career, including a ninth-place showing at the UNLV Spring Invitational.

Freshmen Emily Collins and Anne-Catherine Tanguay will start at the No. 4 and 5 positions, respectively.

The 54-hole MountainView Collegiate will include two rounds on Friday beginning with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. CT. The tournament's final round will be played Saturday. Live stats are available at Golfstat.com.
