Paval, ranked No. 17, took down the Big 12 foe in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. The Romanian native will take on Illinois Roy Kalmanovich in quarterfinal action on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Tsvetan Mihov and Peerakit Siributwong earned a win in the second round of the doubles main draw over Nebraska's Eric Sock and Andre Stenger, 8-5. However, the OU duo dropped an 8-5 contest to Georgia Tech's Kevin King and Juan Spir in the quarterfinals.
Guillermo Alcort and Siributwong also competed in the second round of the singles main draw. Alcorta retired to Illinois' Dennis Nevolo, the No. 6 seed. Siributwong dropped a 6-3, 6-1, contest to Georgia's No. 5 seed Wil Spencer.
