FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- For the first time in 401 days, Oklahoma guard and Fort Worth-native Whitney Hand got to play. But this homecoming was all about the home team.

Emily Carter scored 26 points while Helena Sverrisdottir added 24 to help TCU beat the Sooners (No. 14 ESPN/USA Today, No. 15 AP) 76-69 on Sunday, the Horned Frogs' 28th home win in their last 29 tries.

Hand, who grew up 15 minutes from the TCU campus, missed 45 games after suffering an ACL injury last season. She had a career-high 24 points and a career-high 11 rebounds, but the Sooners (10-3) couldn't find a way to slow down Sverrisdottir and Carter in the final 3½ minutes.

"They made all the plays," Oklahoma coach Sherri Coale said. "Toughness plays, and when somebody had to make a play in the game, TCU made it and we didn't."

With the game tied at 63 with 3:29 left, the senior pair combined for 12 of TCU's last 13 points while the Horned Frogs (8-6) held the Sooners to just two field goals in that span.

"We really answered their push, and I felt like our players were really aggressive in the second half," TCU coach Jeff Mittie said. "We had a good look to us, and I felt like our execution was really good down the stretch.

"We were able to loosen up the defense and that allowed us to move it to get our post mismatches," Mittie said. "When we get those mismatches, we're going to get to the free throw line a bunch."

The Horned Frogs shot 44.8 percent in the second half and also attempted 27 free throws, thanks to the mismatch size-wise that Sverrisdottir and Carter create.

TCU scored seven of the first eight points to start the second half and take a 35-33 lead, the Lady Frogs' first of the game. That would start off a string of nine ties and eight lead changes until Carter and Sverrisdottir took over.

"It was a one possession game for almost the entire second half, and we got wide open shots and didn't finish them," Coale said. "We didn't chase down rebounds and we gave them second shots. You can't send another team to the free throw line 27 times in a half. That's obscene."

Oklahoma led by as many as nine points in the first half and 32-28 at the break behind Hand's 17 points. She hit a 3-pointer for OU's first points of the game and reacted with a fist pump, letting out a big, "Yeah!"

"I feel really good," Hand said. "[Hitting the first shot] was kind of a monkey off your back. That first shot, I definitely felt all the emotions right away, everything came out."

Danielle Robinson scored 17 points for Oklahoma, but the rest of the Sooners starters were just 6-for-21 from the field.
