Oklahoma Head Coach Sherri Coale
On the game:
“We made a few more shots, digging our way out. I thought in the second half we played with a greater sense of urgency and were tougher than we were in the first half. And the results speak for themselves.”
On how the team is able to find ways to win games:
“In the locker room at halftime I said, 'How does the other team turn it over 16 times and were only down 2?' We should be up by 15 if they are throwing it out the gym 16 times. It was a weird game. I'll tell you what though, Texas Tech really knows who they are together. (Texas Tech head coach) Kristy (Curry) has done a great job with that program. They're tough and physical and they really battled the whole night. We were really fortunate to make some plays, but give Tech credit for battling all night.”
On what corrections were made for the second half:
“We felt like initiating on the defensive end was the most important thing. Ball pressure wasn't very good in the first half and we wanted to immediately take the floor and set the tone defensively with our ball pressure. We wanted to get after them defensively in the second half and let our defense generate some offense.”
On Roethlisberger's post presence:
“Well you can (play her in a post position) because you can bring that post defender out and she can shoot the 3, so you can take that guy away from the basket. What you have to do defensively, you have to have that ball pressure so they cant see that postman until Carlee (Roethlisberger) can get in front because she will get buried by bigger, stronger players at the post. That's why we're going to have to have greater contributions from our pure centers.”
Oklahoma Senior Guard Danielle Robinson
On the first half:
“I think that they out-worked us in the first half. They were more physical. We got challenged and we fought back in the second half and really took it back at them. “
On how OU rallied:
“I think we battled them more on the boards. We challenged them in transition, like we didn't do in the first half. I think that we just played together, and we didn't do that in the first half.”
Oklahoma Freshman Guard Aaryn Ellenberg
On getting better shots in the second half:
“That was just D-Rob (Danielle Robinson) and Whitney (Hand) getting me good shots, running in transition and all that. It just kind of came to me.”
On if continuously being open surprised her:
“A little bit, but I mean everybody on our team is a threat so somebody's going to be open at any point in time.”
