8:46 p.m. | Final: Oklahoma 31, Cincinnati 29 The Sooners escape Cincinnati with a 31-29 win Saturday night at Paul Brown Stadium. OU goes to 4-0. Follow complete post-game coverage here at SoonerSports.com. Boomer Sooner! 8:46 p.m. | Onsides Kick Here comes the onsides kick from Cincinnati. Oklahoma recovers the ball and will run out the clock. Thankfully, OU didn't suffer the same fate it delivered Ohio State back in '77. 8:35 p.m. | Beal Comes to Play Not a bad night in the stats category for Jeremy Beal: five tackles, two for loss of 19 yards, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one pass broken up and two sacks. Most important stat to Beal? Oklahoma will be 4-0 heading into the game with Texas. 8:31 p.m. | Breathe Easier First time in the game that Sooner fans can breathe a little easier. Jeremy Beal gets his second sack of the night and Cincinnati is forced to punt the ball away. Oklahoma holds a 31-22 lead with under three minutes left in the game. Bearcat fans are heading for the exits. 8:23 p.m. | Heart Skipping? How's your heart Sooner fans? Up by just two, the Sooners force a fumble, can't gain a first down, then force a fumble on the punt return by Cincinnati. Touchdown Sooners, Jones to Millard. 8:01 p.m. | Poor Decisions Oklahoma has been plagued by poor decisions in this game. That pick by Jones comes after several personal fouls by the Sooners. Infuriating for the coaches and exasperating for the fans. 7:57 p.m. | Clutch Receivers Quite a catch for a true freshman. Kenny Stills comes up big along the sideline for the Sooners. Dejuan Miller follows that catch up with another grab on third down to move the chains. 7:49 p.m. | Beal Sack That clutch sack by senior Jeremy Beal is the first of the night for the Sooner defense. Beal, with 24 for his career, now needs just eight sacks to become the all-time sacks leader at Oklahoma. He currently ranks No. 3, chasing the all-time mark of 31.5 set by Cedric Jones (1992-95). Beal also is fifth on the career list with 45 tackles for loss, tied with Dusty Dvoracek. 7:39 p.m. | Missed Chance Oklahoma missed a chance to really put a dent in Cincinnati's hopes on that drive. The Bearcats and their fans are still very much in this game, down by just 12. You can feel a tension in the air here at the stadium. One big play from UC would have this place rocking. 7:32 p.m. | Attendance Oklahoma's presence helped Cincinnati record its largest home crowd (58,253) since a 2002 game in this stadium against Ohio State. Of course, Ohio State provided a few fans to that total. Hard to estimate the number of Sooner fans in attendance since the crimson blends in with the black and red of the Bearcats. 7:29 p.m. | Hanging In There Down by 15, Cincinnati continues to provide flashes of hope to their fans. The Sooner defense is flying to the ball and has delivered big hits but UC's offensive line has played better than advertised. Cincinnati has also relied on quick plays that have minimized OU's opportunities to attack the backfield. 7:23 p.m. | Video Evidence Big swing in the game with video showing the UC runner's elbow down at the 33. The Sooner fans are roaring as the Cincinnati fans voice their displeasure with the call. 7:15 p.m. | Madu Powers In Oklahoma goes to the ground on their latest drive and powers into the end zone to stretch its lead to 24-9. Good, hard running by senior Mossis Madu to cap the drive. That TD marks Madu's first since his three-touchdown performance against the Missouri Tigers in the 2008 Big 12 Championship Game in Kansas City. 6:59 p.m. | Glance at UC Stats Cincinnati receiver D.J. Woods (No. 3) has five catches for 137 yards including a long of 69. No other Bearcat has more than two receptions. Running back Isaiah Pead (No. 23) has 67 yards on 12 carries. QB Collaros is 11 of 20 for 178 yards, one TD and one INT. 6:55 p.m. | Quick Stats A quick glance at the halftime stats: Landry Jones is 23 of 34 with 251 yards, a TD and no INTs. Ryan Broyles leads the receivers with seven catches for 62 yards and a score. On the ground, DeMarco Murray has 13 attempts for 35 yards and a TD. Defensively, Jefferson, Nelson, Carter and Hurst lead in tackles with Jonathan Nelson coming up with a timely interception. 6:48 p.m. | OU Leads, 17-9, at Half Overall, a sloppy half for the Sooners. Cincinnati had a couple of opportunities to put the ball in the end zone but came away empty thanks to clutch plays by the secondary. OU also had two chances to extend its lead but missed on a field goal and a TD pass in the end zone. Landry Jones at one point completed 13 passes in a row. 6:37 p.m. | OU Adds FG Jimmy Stevens connects this time on a 42-yard field goal to extend OU's lead to 17-9 with a little more than a minute before the half. The distance ties his career long (2008 at A&M). 6:33 p.m. | Going Down the Field Landry Jones connects with Dejuan Miller on a 37-yarder on third down. That's Miller's longest reception of the young season. 6:33 p.m. | J-Nel to the Rescue Jonathan Nelson again thwarts a Cincinnati scoring threat, this time with his first interception of the season (OU's sixth overall) in the end zone. The Sooners take over here late in the second quarter. 6:27 p.m. | Second Meeting Tonight marks Oklahoma's second meeting with the Bearcats. The Sooners defeated UC, 52-26, in Norman during the 2008 season. Eighteen current Sooners played in that game, including DeMarco Murray, OU's leading rusher that day (15-88, 1 TD), and the team's top receiver, Ryan Broyles, who made his collegiate debut against the Bearcats. He finished with seven catches for 141 yards and one TD. That yardage total is the highest ever by an OU freshman. Review highlights from the win here. 6:21 p.m. | All In Good to see Cameron Kenny with a solid game so far with three receptions. The Sooners are again spreading the ball around with eight players sharing 19 receptions including receivers, tight ends, running backs and fullbacks. 6:14 p.m. | Pass Selections Oklahoma's DBs are closing quickly when the passes go to the edge of the field. They've been beat a few times however when the ball goes over their heads down the middle of the field. 6:10 p.m. | Wide Right Jimmy Stevens misfires on a 42-yard field goal attempt and the Sooners turn the ball back over to Cincinnati. 6:06 p.m. | Play to the Whistle Jonathan Nelson again shows his closing speed on that play and his nose for the ball by forcing the fumble. The Sooners dodge a bullet. If you aren't already following Nelson's weekly video series, you should start. You might learn something from the senior DB. 6:03 p.m. | Sooner Exposure Today's game is televised nationally by ESPN2. It marks the 102nd consecutive game for the Sooners on TV. 5:56 p.m. | Texas Goes Down The Longhorns suffer a 34-12 loss to UCLA in Austin. No need to remind you that the Longhorns are OU's next opponent a week from now at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. 5:48 p.m. | OU in Pro Venues This is OU's 26th regular season game in a venue that also serves as the home for a pro sports team. It is the home venue of the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League. It opened on August 19, 2000. The stadium was named after coaching legend Paul Brown, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame who founded not only the Bengals in 1966, but also the Cleveland Browns franchise in 1945. The stadium has a listed capacity of 65,535. 5:39 p.m. | Boom, Sooners Oklahoma scores again to take a 14-3 lead here in the first quarter. Landry Jones has been remarkably accurate with 13 straight completions. It was the 25th career TD reception for Ryan Broyles (just one behind Jermaine Gresham for No. 2 on OU's career list). Gresham, by the way, plays his pro ball in this stadium. 5:36 p.m. | Jones Accurate Landry Jones has completed his last nine passes. The Sooners continue to move methodically down the field. 5:34 p.m. | Rotating Guards Stephen Good (77) and Tyler Evans (75) rotate in at offensive guard for the Sooners here in the third drive of the game. Brian Lepak and Gabe Ikard were in for the first two. 5:32 p.m. | Murray Passes AD Murray recorded the 42nd rushing touchdown of his career in the first quarter matching Chris Brown (2006-09) for fourth place all-time at OU in the category. It was also the 53rd overall touchdown of his career, tying him with Billy Sims (1975-79) for second place all-time at OU. 5:27 p.m. | Blistering Pace Oklahoma's offense rolls down the field for the game's first TD and the Sooners take the lead, 7-3. If you haven't watched OU's offense at work, the blistering pace is jarring. Nice response by the Sooners to show authority on the offensive side of the ball. 5:24 p.m. | Fans in Stands OU is driving toward the north end zone. It appears that the Cincinnati student section (dressed mostly in black) was seated there. The lower and upper decks appear nearly full but the mid-level seating shows a lot of green chairbacks on both sides of the field. 5:16 p.m. | Bearcats Up by Three The OU defense denies Cincinnati a TD on its opening drive. It's not a bad outcome to such a poor start to the game for the Sooners (punt on first possession, big return, two personal fouls). 5:08 p.m. | O-Line Oklahoma opens with Donald Stephenson, Gabe Ikard, Ben Habern, Brian Lepak and Eric Mensik across the line. 5:04 p.m. | OU Wins Toss Jeremy Beal called "tails" and won the toss. Oklahoma elected to take the ball here to start the game. We're just moments from kickoff. The field is still a bit smoky from the pre-game fireworks. 4:59 p.m. | Set to Start Just completed the national anthem and the teams are set to take the field. It's a late-arriving crowd here in Cincinnati. Some rumors are putting the number of Sooner fans in the stands at 15,000 but we'll have a better estimate once the game gets underway. 4:48 p.m. | Upsets Brewing? The Texas and Alabama games are on the TVs here in the press box at Paul Brown Stadium. The Longhorns are down, 20-3, midway through the third quarter while the Crimson Tide is trailing Arkansas, 17-7. Watch the national scores here. 4:43 p.m. | Sooners to Locker Room The Sooners are leaving the field here in Cincinnati as warmups are complete. The OU band is serenading the team with "Boomer Sooner" and the fans are on their feet as the players head for the locker room. Kickoff is scheduled for exactly 5:02 p.m. CT. ![]() 4:15 p.m. | Up and Running We're set up in the press box here at Paul Brown Stadium. Every seat in the stadium has a green chairback so the OU fans in their crimson certainly stand out. Looks like Sooner fans are seated around the band in the southwest corner of the stadium. Sooner players are on the field in their road white uniforms warming up. 3:02 p.m. | Heading to Stadium We're heading to the stadium to set up for tonight's game. We'll be back blogging live when we get to the press box. Remember, ESPN2 has the broadcast beginning at 5 p.m. CT (6 p.m. local). 1:29 p.m. | Oklahoma in Ohio OU at Cincinnati marks only the second time the Sooners have played a game on Ohio soil. On September 24, 1977, No. 3 Oklahoma defeated Woody Hayes and No. 4 Ohio State in Columbus, 29-28. In a play that would come to be known in Sooner lore as "The Kick", OU's Uwe von Schamann split the uprights in the waning seconds of the game for the win. 1:17 p.m. | Oklahoma Will Call Oklahoma Will Call for the Cincinnati game at Paul Brown Stadium is at Gate B and opens at 4 p.m. local time (3 p.m. CT): ![]() 12:11 p.m. | Sooner Nation in Cincinnati We just completed a walk from downtown Cincinnati, past Paul Brown Stadium and over the Roebling suspension bridge across the Ohio River into Kentucky.
