Guerin Emig of the Tulsa World: "If I had to vote today, I'd take Oklahoma to win the South over Texas. Has nothing to do with coaching, quarterbacking or karma. I'd simply base the pick on attitude. LEWIS "CRAZY GOOD"
From the San Antonio Express-News: "Oklahoma linebacker Travis Lewis is crazy -- and crazy good. Allow fellow Sooners defender Jeremy Beal to clarify. Oklahoma earned a league-high seven slots on the media's 2010 Preseason All-Big 12 Football Team announced Thursday. Ryan Broyles (at WR and PR), OL Stephen Good, RB DeMarco Murray, DL Jeremy Beal, LB Travis Lewis and DB Quinton Carter earned preseason honors. Beal and Lewis were unanimous selections.

MURRAY THE MAN AT RB
After splitting carries with the likes of Chris Brown and Allen Patrick the last three years, DeMarco Murray will be the headliner of OU's backfield in 2010. The senior running back is looking forward to the opportunity to carry the load and hopes to lead the Sooners back to a BCS game. We recently sat down with Murray to get his thoughts summer workouts and the season ahead:

OU DEFENSIVE LINE
From the Nebraska State Paper: "Defensive Jeremy Beal is a powerful, dominant end against the run - and a pretty good pass rusher, too. Defensive tackle Adrian Taylor has the athleticism to a first-round NFL Draft pick, while Frank Alexander has experience at the other end spot. Again - OU has solid depth. The Sooners..."

FOX Sports Southwest ranks the Big 12 running backs: "Murray scored 45 total touchdowns in three seasons and rushed for over 700 yards and 8 TDs in 2009 despite missing a full game and only seeing limited action in a couple of others. BELL ON OKLAHOMA
John Hoover of the Tulsa World on incoming QB Blake Bell: "You feel that tradition. You feel that expectation," Mark Bell said. "We wanted to go to a great program, a top program in the country, and you can't be afraid of that. That's why you go there. You want to be surrounded by good people, a good coaching staff..."

With the departure of key figures on defense, some may expect a dropoff on that side of the ball in 2010. Travis Lewis does not. One of the team's most consistent performers the last two years, Lewis is unquestionably one of OU's defensive leaders. With the work he and his teammates have been putting in over the summer, Lewis believes this year's unit can be as good or better. We recently sat down with Lewis to get his thoughts on the season ahead:

STOOPS ONE OF BEST
Mike DeArmond of the Kansas City Star: "Coach Bob Stoops' ability to coach the Sooners to an 8-5 finish in view of injuries that would have decimated most other teams shows why he is one of the best coaches in the country. Landry Jones has taken his lumps and gets some help from the return of running back DeMarco..."
