Siributwong Set to Join Roddick's Squad

NORMAN, Okla. - Men's tennis head coach John Roddick announced the addition Peerakit Siributwong to the 2010-11 Sooners' squad.

Siributwong, a product of Nonthaburi, Thailand, comes to Norman with a bevy of accolades to his name, including a career-high ATP, Associated of Tennis Professionals, singles ranking of 754. In addition, Siributwong reached a career high ITF, International Tennis Federation, juniors ranking of 13 in the world, after boasting a singles record of 83-49 and a doubles record of 63-46.

"We're very excited to get a recruit of his quality and international experience," said Roddick. "He has been playing at an extremely high level in juniors and a high level in ATP futures."

Siributwong's list of accomplishments are as follows: the Thailand native beat the No. 1 player in the world, Yuki Bhambri, in straight-sets, won the Asian Closed Tennis Championships in 2008, Won the 2007 Thailand Open, played in the main draw of all four grand slams, advanced to the semifinals of the 2008 US Open Junior Championships in doubles and finished in the top 16 in singles action.

With such lofty accomplishments Roddick feels he has another high-level player that will have a big influence on the current Sooner program.

"We expect him to come in, work hard on improving his game and contribute right away," Roddick explained. "He is another guy that has lofty tennis goals. That is the environment we are trying to create around here. Duece (Peerakit) is going to fit in really well with us."
