NORMAN, Okla. -- Throughout the summer, SoonerSports.com will bring fans weekly updates of current Sooners competing in the numerous summer baseball leagues around the country. Fans can also access information on former Sooners playing in Major League Baseball and its minor league affiliates.
The first installment, along with links to each of the players' statistics, are listed below:
SUMMER COLLEGIATE LEAGUE
Cameron Seitzer (Hyannis Harbor Hawks) is hitting .242, ranking him fourth on the team as he went 3-for-3 with one home run and 3 RBI against the Falmouth Commodores. Teammate Drew Verhagen is also playing well this summer with an ERA of 1.93 with 11 strikeouts in 14 innings of work for the Harbor Hawks.
Playing this summer in the Texas Collegiate League is pitcher Drew Krittenbrink (McKinney Marshals). Krittenbrink has pitched just over 18 innings and recorded an ERA of 1.96 with 16 strikeouts.
Up in the New England Summer Baseball League, Jack Mayfield has one relief appearance is with the Yorkton Cardinals.
OKLAHOMA IN THE MINORS
Playing with the West Virginia Power (Class A), Aaron Baker is ranked near the top of the South Atlantic League in homers with 12 this season and is hitting .261 with 52 RBI, in the top 10. In the last 10 games, he has batted .351 and collected 11 RBI and two home runs.
Chase Anderson is also excelling with the Visalia Rawhide (A Adv.) in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. Anderson is 4-2 and has won two of his last four starts and lasted six or more innings in the four games as a starter.
In his second season in the minor league, former catcher J.T. Wise has advanced to the Great Lake Loons (A) hitting .263, along with seven homerun and 32 RBIs. In his most recent 10 games, he has averaged a .452 hitting percentage and collected seven RBI and three home runs.
Former catcher Jackson Williams was recently promoted to the AAA Fresno Grizzlies of the San Francisco organization.
SOONERS IN THE MAJORS
David Purcey has made it back to the show in the Toronto BlueJays pitching rotation. Since activation, Purcey has 15 strikeouts and a 2.12 ERA.
Jason Bartlett continues his steady play with the Tampa Bay Rays and currently is hitting .296 in his last 10 games with seven RBI and one homeruns. Bartlett also connected with an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Rays a 6-5 walk-off win over the Indians on July 11.
In the National League, Greg Dobbs remains a consistent player for the Phillies. Dobbs re-energized the crowd for a come-from-the-behind victory against Cincinnati on July 9 when he blasted a three-run home run in the ninth inning.
