NORMAN, Okla. --
Cody Reine hit one of six Sooner home runs on Sunday as No. 15 OU won a decisive game three on Sunday over No. 20 Kansas State by a 15-11 count.

Sunday's offensive outburst marked the 18th time this season that the Sooners hit multiple-homers in a game and the six was a season high. Garrett Buechele and Max White tied Cameron Seitzer for the team lead with nine apiece and upped OU's Big 12-leading total to 62.

"Our guys did a good job," said OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway. "We talked to them before the game about really taking control of the batter's box. We really felt like we're going to score some runs."

Oklahoma improved to 32-12 overall and above .500 in Big 12 play with a 10-9 mark after winning the season series against Kansas State for the ninth straight year.

The Wildcats (30-12) remained in second place in the standings, two spots ahead of the Sooners, despite the series loss with a 10-7 conference record.

"It's going to be a dog fight until the end for everybody," said Golloway on the remainder of the Big 12 race. "I told our guys, it's not about coming out and sweeping and moving into second place right now. It's about winning series. This one, next weekend, Memphis, etc... ."

Jack Mayfield got the win after pitching 3 2/3 innings of relief to hold Kansas State's offense at bay. Mayfield surrendered two runs, both unearned, and gave up just two hits and a walk. Mayfield has not allowed an earned run in five straight outings, spanning 10 innings.

"He doesn't have the experience of a (Anthony) Collazo or (Michael) Rocha, but yet he's controlling where he is putting the baseball and doing what he is supposed to be doing out of the bullpen," added Golloway. "We knew he was going to be our guy to bridge the gap today."

Buechele, the second batter of the game for OU, extended his hitting streak to 16 games with his first homer since April 13 in the opening frame. After a Ross Hubbard RBI single, Reine (3-for-4, 5 RBI) hit a three-run shot to right field as the Sooners batted around for the 18th time this season en route to their 18th multiple-home run game of 2010, tying last year's total.

OU starter J.R. Robinson last two innings despite receiving plenty of run support in the first inning. Mayfield took over in the third inning and saw the lead increase with six runs scored on his watch.

Kansas State's Justin Lindsey (4-3) surrendered eight of the runs in his start that lasted 3 1/3 innings. Four of the five relievers that followed Lindsey gave up at least one run.

In the fourth, the Sooners plated five more runs as Max White (2-for-4, 4 RBI) drove in three with his ninth home run of the year and Cody Reine brought home two with a single.

In the bottom of the seventh, OU blasted three more home runs off the bats of Bryan Groth, Danny Black and Elliott Blair. The last time the Sooners hit at least six dingers in a game was March 30, 2009 against Nebraska in Norman.

The Sooners close out the five-game home stand on Tuesday, May 4 against Arkansas Little Rock at 7 p.m.

Following the midweek contest, OU returns to Big 12 play in the Bedlam Series, presented by Oklahoma Farm Bureau and the Oklahoman. Game one in Tulsa at OneOK Field is set for 7:30 p.m. Games two and three will be played at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City on Saturday (7:05 p.m.) and Sunday (4:05 p.m.).
