NORMAN. Okla. -- Head Coach
Mark Williams and the Oklahoma men's gymnastics team posted another top-three finish en route to finishing the decade as the most dominate collegiate men's gymnastics program in the country by adding two individual national crowns to its history.
The Sooners tallied 357.050 points to finish third at the 2010 NCAA Championship on the campus of the United States Military Academy. Michigan (360.500) claimed the National Championship, as Stanford (359.800) finished second.
Steven Legendre took one step closer to breaking Jonathan Horton's OU program record six national titles by capturing one more individual National Championship. The junior claimed the national crown on floor to tie Horton's six individual titles in the OU record books.
Legendre's third National Championship on floor marks the fifth straight year the Sooners have claimed the title. Horton won the title on the same event in 2006 and 2007.
Also collecting an NCAA Individual Championship in his freshman year was Alex Naddour with a score of 15.425 on pommel horse. The last time Oklahoma claimed the individual title on pommel horse was Josh Landis in 2003.
For the fourth consecutive season, the 2010 team finished with 11 All-America honors. Collecting All-America honors for OU was Legendre (AA, FX, V), Naddour (AA, PH), senior Corey English (PH, PB), and freshmen Jacob Dalton (AA, FX, V) and Jeremy Adams (PH).
Oklahoma (358.350) claimed its 10th conference title out of the last 12 years in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship.
Making History Steven Legendre is set to make history again by claiming his sixth overall National Championship of his career. Legendre has won the floor national title on three occasions (2008, 2009, 2010), the vault twice (2008, 2009) and the all-around national title in 2009, which sets him tied with former Sooner great Jonathan Horton (6).
Between the two the Sooners have dominated NCAA collegiate gymnastics on the floor apparatus five consecutive years (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010). Seven Oklahoma gymnasts have claimed the floor national title 11 times in its program's history.
Horton (2006) and Legendre (2009) are the only gymnasts to claim the floor and all-around titles in the same season.
Add Two More
Oklahoma ranks fourth all-time in individual NCAA Championships with 32 making it the fifth consecutive year that the Sooners have won two or more National titles and the seventh overall.
Under Williams, seven University of Oklahoma gymnasts have been responsible for 19 NCAA individual National Championships. The Sooners have a total of 32 title winners in the history of the program.
Oklahoma continues a streak of NCAA National Championship winners to six consecutive seasons.
King of the PommelNo other freshman gymnast has made a bigger impact on the pommel horse in Oklahoma men's gymnastics history than Alex Naddour. The freshman broke the program record on the apparatus in his first meet at the Rocky Mountain with a 15.200 and subsequently broke his own record two more times during 2010 campaign, with the record now standing at 15.700.
Naddour did not disappoint in the 2010 National Championships claiming the pommel horse National Title.
More Conference TitlesOU notched its 31st and 32nd individual conference titles under Williams, as Legendre (floor – 16.000) and Ian Jackson (vault – 16.200) won MPSF titles. It was Legendre's 53rd title of his career, while Jackson posted his first win on vault since the 2008 season.
Sooners Finish Undefeated Against Big TenOklahoma went undefeated with a 5-0 record in the regular season against Big Ten foes. The Sooners averaged a 356.380 in each of the wins as four of the five victories came on the road. All five Big Ten opponents were ranked in the top 10 during the competition with Oklahoma.

On floor, the Sooners high score during the season came against Minnesota/Texas with a 63.000. On vault, Oklahoma posted a team high score of 64.500 at Penn State.
Sweeping the CompetitionOklahoma swept event titles a total of four times last season (Iowa, Nebraska, Texas and Minnesota). Three out of the four teams that OU swept were ranked in the top 10.
Also in the Classroom
Legendre and sophomore Patrick Piscitelli continued a long standing tradition of great student-athletes at Oklahoma being selected on the MPSF conference All-Academic team. Both gymnasts held GPAs of 3.20 and above, while competing in over 50 percent of meets this season.
All-American MachineOU's number of All-America honors stands at 207 after this year's team collected 11 for the fourth straight season. Oklahoma has produced 117 All-Americans, with 44 in the past four seasons, under Williams.
During Williams' coaching career at Oklahoma the Sooners have averaged 10.6 All-Americans in a season with double digit honors coming in eight of the 11 seasons.
Oklahoma continues the streak of at least one All-American in a season to 28 years and multiple All-American winners to 17 years.
Sooners on U.S. Senior National TeamAlso in 2010, OU added to its international résumé by claiming five of the 15 spots on the U.S. National Team with Legendre, Naddour, Dalton and former OU gymnasts Jonathan Horton and
Chris Brooks making the team.
No other NCAA Division I men's gymnastics program has more members on Senior National Team than Oklahoma and this is most National Team members that the Sooners have ever had, beating the previous total in 1994 (4).
