NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma junior Steven Legendre claimed a bronze medal on the last day of the 2010 Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships at Hisense Arena in Melbourne, Australia, on May 1.
The Port Jefferson, N.Y., native posted a score of 15.050 for a third-place finish on the floor during the individual event finals. U.S. Senior National teammate Chris Cameron placed second on floor with a 15.200 while, Yuguo Huang (China) won the event with a 15.600.
Legendre, the 2008 and 2009 NCAA vault champion, also posted a score of 15.175 for a fourth-place finish on vault. Yuguo Huang (China) won the event with a 16.050.
Also in the senior competition for the U.S., Danell Leyva, won two gold medals (parallel bars and horizontal bar), along with the still rings bronze. Cameron, captured the pommel horse title, along with the floor exercise silver.
The meet was not the first international competition for the 2010 NCAA floor National Champion, as Legendre now owns four international meets under his belt with the U.S. Senior National Team. The six-time NCAA national champion has had previous success in his career with a gold medal finish in the 2007 Pan American Games and a bronze medal at the 2009 Japan Cup on vault.
