NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma junior Steven Legendre and the U.S. Senior National Team finished first with a score of 354.950 in the team all-around competition at the 2010 Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships at Hisense Arena in Melbourne, Australia, on April 28.
China finished second in the team competition with a score of 340.500, and Canada came in third with 337.250. Host country Australia placed fourth with a 333.000.
Fresh off of his 2010 NCAA individual title on floor, Legendre competed in his fourth international competition with the U.S. Senior National Team.
Legendre, a six-time individual NCAA National Champion, turned in a solid performance again finishing in the top 10 on four events, placing second on floor exercise (15.150), seventh on rings (14.400), ninth on vault (15.600) and fifth on parallel bars (14.400).
Legendre finished 10th with an all-around score of 82.900 and will move on to the individual event finals on the four events.
The men's competition will conclude Saturday, May 1, with the individual event finals.
Canada took first in the all-around, with Nathan Gafuik finishing first with a score of 86.250. Sam Offord (Australia) finished second with an 85.850 and Yuguo Huang (China) placed third with a score of 85.550.
The U.S. victory was led by 2009 USA junior all-around champion John Orozco, who claimed the junior all-around title scoring 86.450. Teammate CJ Maestas collected the silver with 84.300. Under the Pacific Rim rules, teams must contain a minimum of three junior gymnasts.
