NORMAN, Okla. - Sooner fans can watch the Oklahoma men's gymnastics team and its third place finish at the 2010 NCAA National Championship, on Friday, April 23 on ESPN 2. The 2010 NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships were held on the campus of the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.
ESPN2 (Cox Channel 28, HD Channel 721 in OKC) will air the tape-delayed broadcast from the team finals of the National Championships, which were held on April 16. In addition, ESPNU (Cox Channel 253) will rebroadcast the event the same night at 10 p.m. Check your local listings for coverage in your area. The Oklahoma men's gymnastics team tallied 357.050 points to finish third at the 2010 NCAA Championship and claimed 11 All-America honors.
On the final night of the weekend competition, junior Steven Legendre won his third NCAA National title on floor, making it the fifth straight year the Sooners have claimed the event title. Jonathan Horton won the title on the same event in 2006 and 2007. The Port Jefferson, N.Y., native also tied Horton's program record of six career NCAA National Championships.
Also collecting an NCAA Individual title was freshman Alex Naddour on pommel horse. The last time Oklahoma claimed the individual title on pommel horse was Josh Landis in 2003.
Oklahoma ranks fourth all time in individual NCAA championships with a total of 32 titles.
Claiming All-America honors this season for OU were junior Steven Legendre (AA, FX, V), freshman Naddour (AA, PH), senior Corey English (PH, PB), and freshmen Jacob Dalton (AA, FX, V) and Jeremy Adams (PH).
The Sooners' 11 All-Americans was the second-highest total in the nation, just two behind Stanford's 13 honorees.
