NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma men's gymnastics head coach Mark Williams announced the signing of one of the nation's top junior gymnasts to National Letters of Intent on Thursday. Preston Ellsworth will join the Sooners for the 2011 season.
“We are excited to have Preston join the Sooner family,” said OU head coach Mark Williams. “He has been a great high school gymnast and I think that he will be a great addition to our program.”
Ellsworth is a former club teammate of current Sooner Steven Legendre and attends Allen High School.
A native of Allen, Texas, Ellsworth was a member of the USA Junior National Team for the 2005-06 season and is coached by Sergei Pakanich, at WOGA Gymnastics. “I expect that he will have a impact on this team right away,” added Williams. “I think that he will fit right into this tradition of championship that we have established. It is a great day for us to add another ingredient to hopeful future success.”
