PREVIEWING OKLAHOMA
The Sooners are appearing in their second straight Final Four and the third in the program's history.
Following a season when Oklahoma notched a program record 32 wins, won its sixth Big 12 regular season title and made a trip to the Final Four, the resilient Sooners made immediate adjustments to losses of the Paris twins to graduation and star sophomore Whitney Hand to an ACL injury early in the playing season.
The Sooners are 27-10 overall and finished 11-5 in the Big 12 with the nation's toughest strength of schedule and No. 8 RPI.
Oklahoma features All-American guard Danielle Robinson, and All-Big 12 seniors Nyeshia Stevenson and Amanda Thompson -- all of whom were named to the Kansas City Region All-Tournament Team.

A Familiar Final Four
Oklahoma advanced to the 2010 Final Four, its second straight appearance in the national semifinals.
Familiarity is at a premium as this year's Final Four features three of the four teams that advanced last year as Connecticut and Stanford are also playing. Big 12 rival Baylor is the fourth team and an Oklahoma-Baylor matchup would be the fourth this season.
Oklahoma has met Stanford six times previously, including five times this decade. The last two meetings, in 2004 and 2006, were in the NCAA Championship.
OU and Connecticut have met eight times previously, with UConn winning all meetings. Oklahoma and Connecticut played earlier this season, with the Huskies winning 76-60. UConn led by just two points at halftime and trailed with 16 minutes to play -- the latest they have trailed during their winning streak.
Oklahoma lost to Connecticut, 82-70, in the 2002 National Championship played in the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Oklahoma and Baylor have met 36 times previously, including three times this season with Oklahoma winning the last two meetings, including a 59-54 Big 12 Championship Quarterfinal victory. The Sooners lost by 10 in Waco and won by two in overtime in Norman. OU leads the all-time series 25-11 and has won all five meetings on neutral courts.
Follow Sooners on Twitter
Sooners Whitney Hand and Danielle Robinson will provide updates this season via Twitter. Both joined the online social networking tool this summer to relay their USA Basketball exploits and will continue use as OU plays during the Final Four.
Hand is @ou_whitneyhand and Robinson is @ou_drob.
Oklahoma in the Final Four
Oklahoma is appearing in its third Final Four, and second is as many seasons. OU is 1-1 in the national semifinals. The Sooners defeated Duke, but lost in the national championship to UConn in 2002 in San Antonio and lost in the national semifinals to Louisville in 2009.
The Sooners advanced through the Kansas City Region. OU hosted first and second rounds in Norman, beating 14-seed South Dakota State, 68-57, and 11-seed UALR, 60-44. The Sooners prevailed in overtime versus 2-seed Notre Dame, 77-72, and outlasted 4-seed Kentucky, 88-68, to advance.
Oklahoma is 25-12 all-time in the NCAA Championship.
Oklahoma head coach Sherri Coale has a 23-10 record in the NCAA Championship.
OU is 22-7 all-time versus lower seeded teams in the NCAA Championship and 1-3 against higher seeded teams. OU also has a 1-3 record against No. 1 seeds, including a 1-1 mark as a No. 1 seed vs. a No. 1.
Oklahoma is appearing in its 11th consecutive NCAA Championship, the ninth longest active streak in Division I and longest by a Big 12 Conference team. (Baylor is in its seventh consecutive tournament.)
Oklahoma is the 12th 3-seed to play in the national semifinals. No. 3s have won the national championship just twice in six appearances.
The Sooners 10 losses matches the worst record for a team advancing to the Final Four with the 1997 Tennessee team that also entered the Final Four with a 27-10 record and No. 3 seed and won the national title.
Oklahoma finished the regular season with the nation's toughest strength of schedule. The Sooners played against 13 teams, in 20 total games, that earned bids to this year's NCAA Championship, including three of the four No. 1 seeds and two No. 2 seeds.
Entering the regional semifinals, Oklahoma had played eight of the other 15 teams that advanced to the Sweet 16, holding a 3-7 record against those teams (OU played Baylor three times, going 2-1).
Oklahoma vs. Stanford
Oklahoma and Stanford have met six times previously, with the Cardinal holding a 4-2 advantage in the series record. The most recent game was an 88-74 win by Stanford in the 2006 regional semifinal in San Antonio.
OU and Stanford have met in the NCAA Championship three times previously. OU defeated Stanford, 67-50, in the 2001 West Region Second Round held in Norman, Okla. Stanford defeated OU in the 2004 Midwest Region Second Round in Tempe, Ariz., 68-43, and the 2006 NCAA San Antonio Regional Semifinal, 88-74.
Oklahoma vs. Baylor
Of the entire Big 12 south divison and Tennessee, only Oklahoma and Texas were able to defeat Baylor twice this season. Oklahoma won 62-60 in overtime in Norman on Feb. 10 and 59-54 in the Big 12 Championship Quarterfinal on March 12.
Oklahoma vs. Connecticut
Oklahoma was the benefactor in the cancellation of the UConn-Tennessee annual series, picking up both teams for home-and-home games for this season and next.
Oklahoma lost to Connecticut, 82-70, in the 2002 National Championship play in the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Oklahoma in San Antonio
Oklahoma's first Final Four appearance occurred at the Alamodome in San Antonio in 2002. The Sooners defeated Duke, 86-71, in the national semifinal and lost to Connecticut, 82-70, in the national championship game.
The most recent game between Oklahoma and Stanford was an 88-74 win by the Cardinal in the 2006 regional semifinal in San Antonio.
Oklahoma has played six games in San Antonio, Texas, going 4-2. OU defeated UT-San Antonio, 66-53, early in the 1998-99 season and Butler (90-44) and North Texas (83-68) early in the 2001-02 season at the UTSA Invitational. The Sooners appearance in the 2002 Final Four was their first in the Alamodome. Oklahoma lost in its most recent trip to San Antonio to Stanford, 88-74, in the 2006 NCAA Regional Semifinal.
