NORMAN, Okla
. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team recorded a final-round 306 (+18) on Tuesday to finish the 54-hole Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational in 10th place.  OU posted its lowest round of the event by three shots and climbed a spot on the leaderboard at the 16-team event held at the 6,223-yard, par-72 Almaden Country Club in San Jose, Calif.

California won the tournament with a three-round 899 (+35), just two strokes in front of second-place UC Davis. Tournament host San Jose State finished in third with a 903 (+39).

San Jose State's Cristina Corpus took home medalist honors with a three-round 217 (+1).
"I'm proud with the way we finished today," OU head coach Veronique Drouin said.  "We had a rough start, but managed to turn it around.  Ellen (Mueller) had a solid round today and the Collins sisters are showing a lot of improvement.  We need to have some good practices this week before we head to Victoria, Texas."

After a rocky 36 holes on Monday amidst rough weather conditions, Mueller rebounded nicely on Tuesday with a 1-under-par 71 (tied as the lowest round of the day) to finish with a three-round 227 (+11).  The junior paced the Sooners in 17th place, her 14th career top-20 finish.

Brooke Collins carded a final-round 77 in San Jose.  The sophomore's three-round 232 (+16) placed her in a respectable 30th-place finish.  Senior Chelsey Collins shot 5-over on Tuesday to share 45th place with a three-round 235 (+19).

Taylor Schmidt, who competed in her sixth tournament as a freshman, finished tied for 61st place.  Schmidt shot an 84 (+12) on Tuesday for a three-round 241 (+25).  Senior Andrea Sellmeyer rounded out the OU scoring with a final-round 81 (+9) and a 54-hole 245 (+29).  Sellmeyer finished tied for 71st place.

The Sooners will return to Norman for a short week of practices before heading to Victoria, Texas, on March 14-15 for the Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate, hosted by Texas State University.
