NORMAN, Okla. — The NCAA announced the qualifiers for this weekend's NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships Monday and the group included 12 athletes and one relay from the Oklahoma Track and Field program. The two-day event kicks off Friday at the Randal Tyson Center on the University of Arkansas.

Three Sooners erased all doubt earlier in the season by recording NCAA automatic qualifying marks. Ronnie Ash (60-meter hurdles), Mookie Salaam (200-meter dash) and Karen Shump (shot put) all eclipsed the NCAA automatic qualifying threshold in their respective events. All three also won Big 12 titles this season although Salaam won his crown in the 60-meter dash.

Ash, the 2009 NCAA champion in the 60-meter hurdles, enters the meet as the nation's top-ranked hurdler while Shump is third in the women's shot put. Salaam will line up Friday with the sixth-fastest time nationally in the 200.

Joining Shump in the women's shot put will be classmate Tia Brooks. The pair are two of only three freshmen in the field of 19 in the event. The women's shot put is one of three events at the meet that will have two Oklahoma entries as both the men's 60-meter hurdles and mile have a pair of Sooners. Ash will be joined by Malcolm Anderson in the hurdles while Jacob Boone and Eric Harasyn compete in the mile.

A four-time All-American, Scottesha Miller is the only Sooner entered in multiple events as the Daytona Beach, Fla., native competes in both the 60- and 200-meter dash. Miller enters the 200 with the fifth-best time in the nation after finishing ninth in the event at the 2009 NCAA Championships.

A national champion in the triple jump on the junior college level, Jasmine Simmons will face the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career while Latoya Greaves does it for a second time in the 60-meter hurdles. Greaves finished 10th in the event at the 2008 event.

Rounding out Oklahoma's entries is the men's 4x400-meter relay, entering the meet ranked 10th nationally. The quartet of Remuro Henry, Jarell Warren, Eric Bailey and Zach Dawson ran a season-best time of 3:07.76 at the Tyson Invitational on Feb. 13 on the same track that will host this weekend's championships.
