LINCOLN, Neb. --
The No. 12 Sooners were unable to complete a three-game sweep of Nebraska on Sunday after falling 10-0 in seven innings at Hawks Field.

Oklahoma began the weekend with a 10-2 win in the opener on Friday and claimed the series victory on Saturday with a 3-1 decision. The two wins were made possible thanks to strong pitching performances and timely hitting but both were lacking in Sunday's defeat. OU has won two of the last three series played in Lincoln but was in search of its first series sweep at Nebraska since 1974.

Nebraska's Tom Lemke (4-1) managed to hold OU scoreless for the first time this season and also limited the Sooners to a season-low three hits. It marked the first time Oklahoma was run ruled since April 13, 2008 at Texas A&M.

"It's going to be a learning situation for our young club," said OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway. "We've been competitive in all 20-something games that we have played this season up until today. We did not put up the effort that we are capable of and we need to learn from this game and move on."

While Lemke cruised for Nebraska, Ryan Gibson (2-2) struggled in his start that was short lived after surrendering three runs in the first inning, two off Tyler Farst's two-run homer to left.

The scoring didn't stop for the Huskers in the next four frames as OU fell behind 10-0 after five innings. Adam Bailey was one of five Huskers with two hits and he finished with a game-high three RBIs.

Casey Johnson delivered a single to center to break up Lemke's no-hit bid in the fifth. The base knock also extended Johnson's streak to 11 games, tying a career high, and was followed by singles by Ricky Eisenberg and Danny Black. Despite the bases-loaded opportunity, OU was unable to break up the shutout.

Freshman Jack Mayfield was the fifth OU pitcher used on Sunday and he was the only Sooner to hold Nebraska scoreless. Mayfield was perfect in 1 1/3 innings after recording the final out of the fifth and retiring the Huskers in order in the sixth.

The loss snapped the Sooners' five game-winning streak and dropped them to 20-3 overall and 3-1 in Big 12 play. Nebraska improved to 12-11 and 2-4.

"Our objective every weekend is to win the series and we came into Nebraska and won two games," said Golloway. "It's not an easy place to come in and find victory. We've won our first two series in Big 12 play and we have an important one coming up. But we can't look past Arkansas Pine Bluff in the midweek."

OU returns to Norman for a five-game home stand that begins on Tuesday against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Sooners and Lions will play again on Wednesday and then Texas comes to town for a three-game set starting on Thursday, April 1. All five games next week will be televised by the Sooner Sports Network on Cox Channel 3 in Oklahoma City and Tulsa with the exception of the finale of the Texas series. That game will be televised by ESPNU marking OU's first national telecast of the year.
