WEDNESDAY'S QUICK NOTES
-  Oklahoma looks to go 2-0 at home this season and avenge a season-ending 5-3 loss to Tulsa at the 2009 NCAA Regional in Norman.
-  Wednesday's game marks the first of 10 home games in the month of March. Eight of Oklahoma's next 10 are at Marita Hynes Field.
-  Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso won her 900th career game last Saturday against Oregon State (6-1).
-  The win against the Beavers was also the Oklahoma program's 1,300th career victory.
-  Sooner freshman Jessica Shults was named the Cathedral City Classic Most Outstanding Player (non-Lawrie division) by ESPN.com.
-  Senior Amber Flores is two home runs shy of tying the school record (48).
-  Tulsa head coach John Bargfeldt is 145-101 in five seasons as a collegiate head coach, all at TU.
- Lauren Lindsay leads TU in batting average (.463), hits (19), runs scored (11), slugging percentage (.878) and on-base percentage (.582).
-  All three Hurricane pitchers - Jordan Kinard, Jackie Lawrence and Kalynn Schrock have seen time in the circle this season.
-  Kinard has the lowest earned run average (2.44), while Schrock has the best record at 4-2.
- Wednesday's forecast calls for partly sunny skies, a high of 52 at first pitch and winds out of the east at eight miles per hour.
- Phil Shockey, a longtime Diamond Club member will throw out the first pitch Wednesday.

A LOOK INTO THE SERIES HISTORY
-  Oklahoma leads the all-time series, 31-7 and has a 12-3 mark in games played in Norman.
-  The two teams last met in the 2009 NCAA Regional with Tulsa getting a walk-off three-run home run to end OU's season.
-  Oklahoma has won four out of the last five in Norman, outscoring the Hurricane 24-11 in those games.
-  OU is 24-7 against Tulsa under head coach Patty Gasso. The Sooners are 10-3 at home against TU during that same span.
-  Since 1995, Oklahoma's average margin of victory against Tulsa is 4.4 runs.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE
-  Oklahoma takes on Nevada Friday night at 6 p.m.
-  The Sooners meet 25th-ranked Oklahoma State (3 p.m.) and 14th-ranked Louisville (5:30 p.m.) Saturday at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in OKC.
-  OU closes out the weekend on Sunday against Louisville. First pitch from the OU Softball Complex is set for noon.

GASSO GETS CAREER WIN NO. 900
Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso won her 900th career game on Feb. 26 against Oregon State (6-1). Gasso began her career at Long Beach (Calif.) City College in 1991 and came to OU in 1995. Her current career record stands at 900-299-2. Gasso is 738-241-2 at OU. With the win over the Beavers, the Oklahoma program got its 1,300th victory. All-time, OU is 1,300-691-2 (.652).

SHULTS PLAYING LIKE A VETERAN
Freshman Jessica Shults (Valencia, Calif.) has gotten her rookie season off to a great start. Shults hit a grand slam in her first collegiate at-bat and of her 15 hits this season; seven are home runs (two grand slams). Shults leads OU in RBI (26), total bases (40) and slugging percentage (1.026). Her RBI total is more than double any other Oklahoma players. ESPN.com writer named Shults the Most Outstanding Player (non-Lawrie division) of the Cathedral City Classic.

OU GOES 3-1 AT CATHEDRAL CITY CLASSIC
Oklahoma went 3-1 at the Cathedral City (Calif.) Classic this past weekend. The Sooners' only loss was to top-ranked Washington (7-4). OU downed San Diego State (4-0), Pacific (9-0 [6]) and Oregon State (6-1). Saturday's finale against Hawai'i was rained out. Oklahoma scored four runs on Washington starter and last season's National Player of the Year Danielle Lawrie, the most allowed by her this season. Freshman Jessica Shults (Valencia, Calif.) drove in all four of OU's runs.

TURANG MAKES THE MOST OF FIRST CAREER START
Brianna Turang (Corona, Calif.) led OU with a .500 batting average at the Cathedral City Classic. Turang made her first career start in center field against San Diego State and started all four game of the tournament in the outfield. Turang went 4-for-5 against Oregon State and her lightning-fast speed saw her go 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts on the weekend.

HOME RUN DERBY
Oklahoma has hit 20 home runs this season and of those 20, 12 have scored multiple runners (three two-run home runs, six three-run home runs and three grand slams). Of the eight solo home runs, six have been leadoff home runs. Freshman Jessica Shults (Valencia, Calif.) leads the team with seven on the year, including two grand slams. Senior Lindsey Vandever (Davenport, Okla.) has the other grand slam for the Sooners this season.
