PREVIEWING OKLAHOMA STATE
Oklahoma State enters the first edition of the 2010 Bedlam Series with its highest ranking in program history at No. 10 in the Associated Press Poll.
Andrea Riley enters the contest No. 2 nationally among active players in consecutive double-figure scoring games at 80. Riley leads the Big 12 and the Cowgirls, scoring 25.8 points per game -- a figure that has increased to 29.5 points in Big 12 play.
Riley is second on the Big 12's all-time scoring list with 2,493 points. She would need 237 points to pass Courtney Paris' record of 2,729.
Teagan Cunningham adds 17.1 points per game.
Precious Robinson is the team's leading rebounder with 8.4 per game.
Thompson Closing on 1,000
Senior forward Amanda Thompson is next in line to cross the 1,000 career-point threshold to become OU's 24th player to do so.
Thompson has scored 952 points as a Sooner, leaving her 48 shy of the milestone.
Thompson Becoming One of a Kind
Senior forward Amanda Thompson, a.k.a. `The Waitress', loves to serve up people. She's only the second Sooner ever -- the other being Courtney Paris -- to record 100 blocks and 100 steals in her career.
Thompson is also nearing her 1,000th point, 750th rebound and 250th career assist, which puts her in a class of her own.
Coale's Claims Win No. 300
Sherri Coale took her 300th coaching victory as OU dominated Kansas on Jan. 23 in Norman.
Coale's first win came in her first game as OU's head coach, a 62-50 victory over Oral Roberts on Nov. 22, 1996.
The 100th win came 170 games later on Feb. 5, 2002, a 69-60 win over then-No. 10 Baylor at Norman.
Win No. 200 came 141 games later on March 8, 2006, a 78-74 win over Iowa State in the first round of the Big 12 Championship.
Coale Winningest in Big 12
Oklahoma head coach Sherri Coale has a record of 141-75 in Big 12 regular-season conference games.
Coale is in her 14th season coaching the Sooners, all since the BIg 12 formed in 1996-97. Since then, no coach past or present has more wins in league play.
Robinson OU's 23rd 1,000-Point Scorer
Danielle Robinson scored nine points to become Oklahoma's 23rd player to reach 1,000 in a career against Marist, Dec. 9. She now has 1,201 career points scored.
Courtney Paris achieved 1,000 career points in 46 career games and no other player since the year 2000 achieved the mark quicker than her. The NCAA record is 37 games held by three players (Maree Jackson, LSU; Carol Menken, Oregon State; and Sandra Hodge, New Orleans).
Robinson Reaches 400 Career Assists
Danielle Robinson recorded her 400th career assist with her fifth and final one versus Marist.
Robinson is fourth on OU's career assist list and trails Sharee Mitchum (1992-95), who had 601, for third place.
Stacey Dales (764) and Dionnah Jackson (606) are first and second in the all-time rankings.
Robinson Receiving Charity
OU junior Danielle Robinson finished the 2008-09 season as one of the nation's leading free throw shooters. And this year, she is finding many of her opportunities at the line.
Robinson is 74-of-89 (.831) from the charity stripe this season, including a 41-of-43 (.953) effort in Big 12 games.
The junior enters Saturday's game with a streak of 19 consecutive free throws made. She already owns OU's record for consecutive free throws made at 30, set last season.
Against Texas A&M Sunday, Jan. 17, Robinson made a career high 10-of-11 free throws en route to a 24-point performance and Sooner victory. Against Texas Tech on Jan. 30, Robinson was a perfect 10-of-10 from the line and totaled 26 points.
Stevenson Matches 3-Point Record
Nyeshia Stevenson's nine 3-pointers made versus Marist helped her establish a new career scoring high and also matched a 28-year-old Sooner record.
The only other Sooner to make as many 3-pointers in a game was Carin Stites, who did it twice -- vs. Arkansas on Nov. 27, 1990, and vs. UT-San Antonio on Jan. 21, 1991.
Block Party
Amanda Thompson is the only Sooner in history under 6-foot-2 to have 30 or more blocks in a season -- a feat she has achieved twice. Through 21 games in her senior season, she already has 21, putting her on pace to reach the mark again this year.
Amanda Thompson had 21 blocks as a freshman, 34 as a sophomore and 31 as a junior. She ranks fourth all-time on OU's career blocks charts.
Olajuwon's Scoring Efficiency
Danielle Robinson leads the Sooners with 16.4 points per game, but it is senior center Abi Olajuwon who is the team's most efficient scorer. Olajuwon's rate is 0.52 points per minute played, just higher than Robinson's 0.49.
NEXT UP
Oklahoma hosts No. 15 Baylor at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on the Sooner Sports Network.
