Every Monday throughout the season, senior gymnast Kristin Smith will give OU gymnastics fans an inside glimpse into the Sooner program with weekly recaps, meet previews and insight into life outside of the gym for the reigning Big 12 Champions.  This week's installment focuses on OU's victory at Mizzou and its No. 1 ranking.

WEEK 7 | FEB. 22, 2010
Hey Sooner Fans!

Our week was a pretty normal week for a road event.  We left early Thursday morning to catch our flight to Missouri. It was a typical travel day - which included lunch, treatments, stretching, a trip to the mall, dinner and a team meeting.

Thursday night was a lot of fun.  Before our team meeting, we gathered together and watched the Winter Olympics. If watching those Americans win Olympic gold wasn't motivation, then I'm not quite sure what is!

Friday was like any other meet day, very relaxing and laid back. Our goal going into the meet was to hit 24-of-24 detailed-oriented routines and to replace our lowest team score in the RQS rankings, which was a 196.100 entering the weekend.

The meet was awesome.  We hit 23-of-24 routines and were able to post a 197.05 towards our RQS which vaulted us back to No. 1! It's always encouraging to be on the road and post a great score.

We are looking forward to another week of improvement in the gym before we leave for Michigan State on Thursday morning.  It's important that we don't rest on our ranking and continue to strive for improvement each and every day.

Have a great week and Boomer Sooner!
