SUCCESS ON OPENING DAY
From 1984 till 2003, the Sooners won 20 consecutive season openers. OU's 22-4 record since 1984 has been made possible by run support. The Sooners have outscored the opposition 266-119, scoring in double digits on 12 occasions while averaging more than 10 runs a game. That includes last season's 17-2 opening-day win over Western Illinois in Norman.
SEASON OPENERS UNDER GOLLOWAY
The Sooners are 2-2 under head coach Sunny Golloway with wins in 2009 and 2006. Besides last season's win at home, the three previous openers under Golloway came on the road. OU split with Texas State in 2006 and 2007 in the UTPA Tournament and lost at then-No. 1 UCLA in 2008.

BACK-TO-BACK PRESEASON POLLS
The Sooners will start the 2010 season ranked in three of the four major polls. The last time Oklahoma started consecutive seasons ranked in one of the preseason top 25 polls was prior to the 1995 (No. 3) and 1996 campaigns (No. 14). The Sooners started last season ranked No. 16 according to Baseball America.
