Oklahoma Moving Up In the Rankings

NORMAN, Okla. -The Oklahoma men's gymnastics team claimed the second spot in the GymInfo poll released on Tuesday. The OU men's gymnastics team ascended to the No. 2 ranking after topping No. 9 Nebraska last weekend.  The win was the Sooners' third over a top 10 opponent this season.

This week's ranking marks the first time this season that OU has held the second spot.  The Sooners began the year ranked No. 4 in the preseason and the number thee spot last week.

Oklahoma has held the top ranking eight out of the 10 years under the direction of head coach Mark Williams.

Last weekend, OU (6-0 overall, 3-0 MPSF) posted its highest team total of the season (356.500) en route to its second victory over the Huskers (335.450) in 2010.

The Sooners swept the team event portion of the meet and all seven of the individual titles against the Huskers.

Next up, Oklahoma travels to Ann Arbor, Mich., to compete against third-ranked Michigan on, Feb. 20.

The Oklahoma women's gymnastics team is also ranked second in the week's GymInfo poll. This week's poll is the highest the men and women have been ranked together in both program's history.
