NORMAN, Okla. -- Fifteen Oklahoma players were recognized on the 2010 All-Big 12 Football Team that was announced today. The team is selected by the league's coaches.
Defensive end Jeremy Beal, who leads the Big 12 in tackles for loss and is second in sacks, was named the Defensive Lineman of the Year, while freshmen defensive back Tony Jefferson was named Co-Defensive Freshman of the Year with Oklahoma State's Shaun Lewis.
OU's first team selections included RB DeMarco Murray, WR Ryan Broyles and OT Eric Mensik on offense and Beal and safety Quinton Carter on defense.
The second-team picks were FB Trey Millard, a true freshman, and linebacker Travis Lewis, OU's leading tackler with 93.
The honorable mention selections included QB Landry Jones, WR Kenny Stills, P Tress Way and CB Jamell Fleming, who is tied for the team lead in interceptions and ranks No. 4 nationally in passes defended.
Beal also received votes as defensive player of the year as did Broyles for the same offensive honor and Bob Stoops for coach of the year.
Oklahoma has now produced 448 all-conference players since 1907.
Oklahoma, champion of the Big 12 South for the eighth time, will meet Nebraska this Saturday in the Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship Game. The Sooners are gunning for their seventh Big 12 crown.
OU finished the regular season with a 10-2 overall mark and 6-2 Big 12 standard while playing the nation's 12th-most difficult schedule.

Oklahoma has placed a total of 80 players on the Big 12 first team since Bob Stoops became head coach in 1999.
