NORMAN, Okla. – OU men's tennis head coach John Roddick announced today that Dane Webb (Richardson, Texas/Spring Creek Academy) has signed a letter of intent to become an Oklahoma Sooner.

Webb, a five-star recruit by TennisRecruiting.net, was ranked the No. 5 recruit nationally and No. 1 among the Gulf States and Texas.

“We're really excited to sign Dane,” head coach John Roddick said. “Just being from down the road in Dallas is a great thing for our program. He is one of the best recruits in the country and he is going to help us build towards what we are trying to create. Getting Dane, over a lot of schools he was looking at, is a huge credit to our program and what we have been building. We are really excited he is going to be a part of OU tennis.”

This past year Webb advanced to the Round of 32 at the Junior Championships, Wimbledon. He was also a finalist in the 2010 Easter Bowl and was a semifinalist at the 21st Mitsubishi-Lancer International Juniors Championships and the 15th Sarawak Chief Minister's Cup – ITF World Junior Tennis Championships.

In addition, Webb's career high combined ITF ranking is 51. Webb is the Sooners only fall signee and will join the program in the fall of 2011.
