Women's Golf Widens Lead in Norman

OU to Close Out Fall Schedule at Tulsa's Dale McNamara Invitational

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team will compete in its final tournament of the fall season Oct. 11-13 (Monday-Wednesday) at the Dale McNamara Invitational at the par-72 Patriot Golf Course in Owasso, Okla.

The Sooners, No. 20 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, are coming off a second-place finish at the Johnie Imes Invitational, their third straight top-three showing.

"We're looking to finish our fall season with a strong performance," said OU head coach Veronique Drouin. "We're going to a good golf course with a good field. We look to perform our best while finding areas of our game we will need to work on before next spring."

The 15-team tournament, hosted by the University of Tulsa, will feature 18 holes of competition on each of the three days.

OU will be joined in the field by five other top-50 schools: No. 18 Oklahoma State, No. 25 Texas, No. 35 UNLV, No. 41 Tulsa and No. 48 Arkansas-Little Rock. Also competing will be Kansas State, Kennesaw State, Long Beach State, Middle Tennessee State, Missouri, Nebraska, Oral Roberts, SMU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Wichita State.

OU senior Ellen Mueller, coming off a career-best performance at the Johnie Imes Invitational, will lead the Sooners and play in the No. 1 lineup spot. The senior finished in a tie for third place last week and set career lows for 18-hole (69 in the third round) and 54-hole (213) scores.

Freshman Anne-Catherine Tanguay will play in the No. 2 slot for the Sooners. Tanguay is coming off of a 15th-place finish at the Johnie Imes Invitational and a third-place finish at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic a week before. Her 73.2 stroke average is the lowest of OU's freshmen.

Competing in the the No. 3 position in the Oklahoma lineup is freshman Emily Collins. In her three tournaments as a Sooner, Collins has finished in the top eight twice.

Freshman Chirapat Jao-Javanil, who tied for 15th place at the Johnie Imes, will start in the No. 4 position while sophomore Taylor Schmidt will start in the No. 5 spot.

Also making the trip is freshman Mariah Montoya, who will compete as an individual in the 90-player field.

The Sooners will begin teeing off Monday morning at 8 CT on hole No. 10. Live stats will be available at Golfstat.com.
