Oklahoma Head Coach Sherri Coale
On excessive turnovers:
“Most of our turnovers were unforced errors. We were just in a hurry or just not seeing the whole floor and having tunnel vision. And a part of that was that I substituted like a revolving door in the first half. We had no rhythm, no cadence and we didn't have a chance to (create rhythm.)”
On rebounding:
“I was trying to make a point to our guys that if you don't block out, you don't get to stay on the court. So we were just in and out and we had to survive it and we knew that it was going to be tough for a while, but hopefully that message came through. In the last part of the game you could see that we finally got five guys doing their job and that gave us an opportunity to rebound and then run in transition. That's the thing -- its not just that position that you block out for, it is for the next position and then you get an advantage in transition.”
On Nyeshia Stevenson:
“I thought that Nyeshia was very good. At one point, she played for a long stretch and, in the first half, she was the only one consistently running the floor and blocking out. So, she didn't get involved in the revolving-door deal. But Nyeshia is playing with such confidence right now and has been a real constant for us the last three or four games. We know what we are going to get from her every time.”
On Amanda Thompson:
“The thing is that Amanda is now a scorer and a threat that people have to take notice to her and play her honestly. And when they do, she can slice them up. Our guys have been really good at executing at the end and when Amanda knows what she is supposed to find, she can put the basketball there.”
Oklahoma Senior Forward Amanda Thompson
On seeking her shot:
“It's something that has been one of our needs but not something that I have been focusing on. It's just coming to me. It opens the lane up just like Coach said, but I'm just looking at the basket and being aggressive.”
On filling up a box score:
“I try to make sure that I am doing all the different things and just being a good teammate. Taking care of all the things that are my strengths and lately I have been looking for my shot. I don't really look at the stats but it's something that has been working. It's all about playing hard, basically.”
Oklahoma Junior Guard Danielle Robinson
On looking for Amanda Thompson:
“Definitely. Amanda (Thompson) has that scoring presence and just because she hasn't been focusing on it doesn't mean that she can't do it. When she starts to pass, it also allows her score more.”
On fixing the turnovers:
“It's just about me slowing down and not taking some unnecessary risks. The one to Ny (Nyeshia Stevenson) overhead was just ... stupid. I think most of them are just me being sped up and trying things that don't need to be done.”
On strength of non-conference schedule preparing the team for Big 12 play:
“Our schedule definitely prepares us for that. We have seen bursts of how we can be in a couple games this year. Our schedule prepares us because we see a whole bunch of teams in the Big 12 that are like other teams that we've played so far. So we are able to recognize situations and come out there and play like we know how.”

Texas Tech Head Coach Kristi Curry
On the game:
“I think any given night in this league anyone can be beaten. That is why (the Big 12) is so competitive and the number one league in the country. You have to give Oklahoma credit, they made a lot of plays down the stretch. With a little over three minutes to go it was a two possession game. We had some moments where we didn't compete at the level I thought we needed to as far as getting to the foul line and being aggressive. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, and I am not about that.
On the challenges of playing Oklahoma:
“Especially in the first half, I think we were two seconds ahead. They made us play really, really fast. We weren't as patient as we have been and that is something we have to learn from. I think we settled down a little bit in the second half. At critical times we cut into the lead, but you have to give them credit. Their backcourt was outstanding as they have been with (Nyeshia) Stevenson and (Danielle) Robinson, who really makes good decisions. I thought Amanda Thompson made some big baskets.”
On how she feels about her team:
“Optimistic. I hugged my kids and told them, 'You know what? There are going to be a lot of teams come in here and have that result.' That doesn't make it right, but we feel like we are a much improved basketball team. You have to have short term memory. You can't look back and you can't look ahead. We have to stay positive.”
Texas Tech Senior Guard Tilmila Martin
On stopping Oklahoma's fast-paced offense:
“I think we did good in the first half. I thought in the second half we weren't as good and let (Danielle Robinson) get some easy baskets. We didn't pick up the ball and she is quick, very quick. She can get to the rim.”
Texas Tech Senior Forward Ashlee Roberson
On if Oklahoma is a team they can beat in their next meeting:
“Definitely, but you have to give Oklahoma credit. For next game, we have to look at this film and fix our mistakes. We have to come out next game against them and play harder.”
On the freshmen following the seniors' lead on the road:
“We have to stay positive and be good role models. If we continue to do that and stay positive, they will follow moving in the right direction.”
