NORMAN, Okla. — The University of Oklahoma track and field program opens the 2010 season this Friday as it travels to Fayetteville, Ark., to take on SEC members Arkansas and Mississippi in the Arkansas Invitational. The Oklahoma men enter the season ranked No. 6 nationally while the women are No. 21. Both will face ranked teams as the Arkansas men enter the meet at No. 5 and the women at No. 17.

The meet will mark the OU debut for 14 women and six men of which 18 are freshmen. The event is slated to begin at 1 p.m. with the women's shot put inside the Randal Tyson Track Center. Running events start at 3 p.m. with the prelims of the women's 60-meter dash.

Oklahoma is coming off an indoor season in 2009 that saw the men finish fifth in the Big 12 Conference and the women sixth. Oklahoma returns all  four indoor All-Americans in Jacob Boone, Will Claye, Scottesha Miller and Ti'Anca Mock and adds the NCAA men's 60-meter hurdles champion in transfer Ronnie Ash. Mock is also the defending Big 12 champion in the indoor long jump.

The meet is the first of four indoor meets scheduled for Oklahoma at Arkansas.
