NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma freshman Jacob Dalton is the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the week, the conference announced Wednesday.

The honor was the first of Dalton's career as he claimed the all-around title in his first collegiate meet posting a score of 87.500 at the Rocky Mountain Open.

Dalton helped Oklahoma claim five of the six individual titles at the Rocky Mountain Open with event titles on vault (16.250), parallel bars (14.900), and high bar (14.800).

The Reno, Nev., native is no stranger to success after competing with the U.S. Senior National team last summer at the World Championships.

The Sooners began the 2010 campaign with a victory at the Rocky Mountain Open claiming the meet championship for the 11th consecutive year.

OU claimed four team event finals on floor (60.000), pommel horse (56.950), vault (63.950) and parallel bars (57.500).

Oklahoma will face a familiar Big Ten foe this weekend as it travels to Iowa City, Iowa, on Jan. 23, to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes.  The meet is scheduled for a 2 p.m. (CT) start inside the Main Field House on the University of Iowa campus.
