Sooners Head South for Texas A&M Invite

NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma Track and Field program heads to its second meet of the 2010 season this Saturday when it travels to College Station, Texas for the Texas A&M Invitational. The No. 6 men and No. 21 women will take on 15 schools including two other top-25 men's teams (No. 8 Texas A&M, No. 11 Baylor) and three top-25 women's teams (No. 1 Texas A&M, No. 15 Texas, No. 16 Baylor).
The meet will mark the first ever regular-season competition for the Sooners inside the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium after competing in the facility at last year's Big 12 and NCAA Championships. Saturday will also mark the 2010 debut for 21 Sooners who did not compete in the season-opening Arkansas Invitational with 10 opening their collegiate track careers.
A two-time indoor All-American, sophomore Will Claye will return to action for the first time since claiming the U.S. Pan Am Junior triple jump title in August after an outdoor season that saw the first-year Sooner win the NCAA triple jump title on his 18th birthday before claiming the USATF junior national triple jump crown. Claye will compete in the 200-meter dash on Saturday.
Also returning to the track will be hurdler Latoya Greaves who will compete in the 60-meter hurdles, an event she won the 2007 Big 12 crown in, after taking a year off from the sport.
Action at the event inside the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium kicks off Saturday at 1 p.m. while the evening session of track finals starts at 5 p.m.
