No. 2 Sooners Climb in Latest Rankings

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma women's gymnastics squad jumped to No. 2 in the country in Monday's Troester ranking, its highest position under fourth-year head coach K.J. Kindler and believed to be the top mark in program history.
The Sooners are coming off of a wire-to-wire 196.250-195.275 upset over fourth-ranked Florida in OU's season opener on Jan. 8, in front of 1,325 fans at Lloyd Noble Center.
Oklahoma was one of just two squads nationwide to eclipse the 196.000-point barrier during the opening week of competition, joining No. 1 UCLA (196.600).
The Big 12 has a pair of teams in the top three, as Nebraska (195.700) stands third in the latest rankings.
The Sooners are ranked in the top seven on each event, including No. 2 rankings on beam and floor, and a third-place spot on bars.
Individually, Oklahoma's Hollie Vise is tied for first on beam with Alabama's Ashley Priess and Georgia's Grace Taylor. The trio all scored a 9.9 on the apparatus in week one. OU's Jackie Flanery turned in the seventh-best floor score in the NCAA during the first week of competition with a 9.875 from the anchor position.
OU faces its second straight SEC opponent to begin the 2010 season when the Sooners travel to ninth-ranked Auburn on Jan. 15.
