9:27 p.m. | Final: Oklahoma, 64-0
In a rain-drenched home opener at Owen Field in Norman, the Sooners shut out Idaho State, 64-0, for the win. The victory extends Oklahoma's home win streak to 25 games which ties the school record set under Bud Wilkinson's watch from 1947-1952. See more notes on the streak below. Thanks for following along and we'll see you here next week as the Sooners host Tulsa at 2:30 p.m.

9:22 p.m. | Tola Tackle
Merv Johnson on the radio broadcast just gave props to Tola Jimoh, a fifth-year senior from Tulsa Union, who just made that tackle. The Sooner bench erupted in support of Jimoh. Merv relayed that it was sort of a Rudy moment for the team.

9:17 p.m. | Nimmo in at QB
Landry Jones comes out and is replaced by junior John Nimmo from Ponca City, Okla. It appears the Sooner coaches are holding Drew Allen back for a redshirt. Toby Rowland just joked that the Sooner coaching staff wanted to put Nimmo in earlier but they had trouble finding him. Ha...

9:12 p.m. | Nearing 10 Million
Oklahoma has played before sellout crowds in 109 of the 134 games (home, away, neutral) since Stoops became the head coach. During that time, a total of 9,822,001 (average of 73,299) have watched the Sooners. The figure should move above 10 million some time in the 2009 campaign.

9:10 p.m. | 84,749 in Attendance
An official attendance of 84,749 was just announced by the PA here at the stadium. With tonight's sellout, 4,993,990 fans have been in the stands for OU home games during the Stoops era. OU is expected to break the five million mark next week against Tulsa. The current string of sellouts is the second longest in school history, trailing a string of 69 from 1971-84.

Oklahoma Sets Attendance Records at Memorial Stadium

9:08 p.m. | Most Wins in a Decade
If you didn't already know it, you're witnessing a golden era in Sooner football. With a win, OU's record during the 2000s will move to 103-20 (.837). The current decade has now witnessed more Sooner wins than any other. Oklahoma was 102-13-3 (.877) during the 1970s.

9:07 p.m. | One More Note on 1947
The transistor was invented in 1947. Perhaps the most important electronics event of the 20th century, the transistor later made possible the integrated circuit and microprocessor. Without it, we wouldn't be updating this online blog on our laptop from the stadium.

9:05 p.m. | Boxed In
Nice tackle behind the line by Austin Box of Enid, Okla. That was the 11th tackle for loss against Idaho State for the Sooners.

9:04 p.m. | Remembering 1947
Want to really absorb the signifigance of the home win streak? When OU's current streak begin in 1947, the average price of a new home was $6,600, a new car was $1,300 and a gallon of gas was 15 cents. Of course, average pay for a year was just $2,850.

9:03 p.m. | TCU Features in Home Win Streaks
Oklahoma followed a loss to TCU in Norman by winning its next 25 home games from 1947-1952. Sound familiar? OU followed a home loss to TCU in 2005 to win its next 24 games at Owen Field. The current streak includes a 35-10 victory against the Frogs on September 27, 2008. Strangely, the Sooners are 7-4 all-time against TCU but all four losses in the series occured in Norman.

9:02 p.m. | TD Calhoun
Jermie Calhoun rolls in untouched over right tackle to become the fourth running back to score for the Sooners this evening.

8:57 p.m. | McFarland Makes Stop
Parade All-American defensive tackle Jamarkus McFarland of Lufkin, Texas, makes that latest tackle for the defense. From Coach Merv: In those last couple of plays, only two Sooners on defense weren't true or redshirt freshmen.

8:55 p.m. | Wilkinson & Stoops
Legendary Sooner coach Bud Wilkinson's first season at OU started the current longest home win streak. His team lost to TCU on October 25 and then went nearly six years without another home loss. Overall, Oklahoma went 44-2-1 (.946) in Bud's first 10 seasons at home (1947-1956). Coach Stoops amassed a 60-2 (.967) record at home during his first 10 seasons (1999-2008).

8:54 p.m. | Nearing Home Win Streak
Oklahoma has won 24 straight home games, the longest current streak in the nation, and a mark that is just one shy of the school record. The Sooners won 25 in a row from the 1947 Iowa State game through the 1952 Nebraska game.

Oklahoma Memorial Stadium History

8:52 p.m. | TD Miller
True freshman Jonathan Miller of Garland, Texas, rolls 36 yards for his first career touchdown. Brandon Crow of Comanche, Okla., throws a great block at fullback.

8:49 p.m. | Safety
Freshman linebacker Ronnell Lewis from Dewar, Okla., takes down the Bengal running back in the end zone for a safety. That's an impressive eight-man football product. It's OU, 50-0.

8:40 p.m. | Dom to the House, Almost
Dominique Franks, another Tulsa Union product, takes the ISU punt back for an apparent touchdown -- but it's called back due to penalty.

8:38 p.m. | Way to Go
Another nice punt by Tress Way -- a 43-yard kick that dies on the five. Way is becoming quite a field position weapon. Way's high school, Tulsa Union, suffered a 27-25 loss to archrival Jenks on Friday night. Nearly 19,000 fans on hand for that classic rivalry.

8:33 p.m. | Miller Time
True freshman Jonathan Miller makes his first career carry for the Sooners -- a 13-yard advance. From Merv on the radio broadcast: "He reminds you more of Murray than the other backs."

8:32 p.m. | Field Drains
Props to the OU field crew and the drainage properties on display at Owen Field. It has poured for the past couple of hours and the field still looks in great shape. Haven't noticed many slips by the players.

8:28 p.m. | Equipment Note
We ran into student equipment manager Brian Kuenzi prior to kickoff and he told us that OU would go through approximately 50 game balls tonight due to the rain. Kuenzi knows what he's talking about because he's responsible for rotating dry footballs in for the officials. The game balls from tonight won't be usable in later games because the moisture wrecks the leather.

8:22 p.m. | Freshman on Defense
A few new faces are appearing on defense for the Sooners on this drive, including Ronnell Lewis, Joseph Ibiloye and Demontre Hurst.

8:17 p.m. | View from Our Desk

With the rain officially in torrential downpour status, we're sure glad we're protected from the elements here in the new SoonerVision offices in the southwest corner of the stadium. Here's a view from our desk. About half the fans with tickets in the south end zone have decided to seek shelter, but there's still a good number of brave souls out there:

8:08 p.m. | Hardy Fans
It may take a few days for fans still in the stands to dry out. This is the hardest it's rained all evening. With the score 48-0 coupled with the weather, it's amazing fans are still hanging in the stands for this one. Here's a quick glance at the latest radar.

8:03 p.m. | DeMarco In Again
DeMarco Murray rolls untouched into the end zone for his second score of the evening. Oklahoma goes up, 48-0.

8:02 p.m. | Home Openers
Leading 41-0 at halftime, Oklahoma has now outscored opponents 140-0 in the first half in the past three home openers.

8:01 p.m. | Fan Email
We received the following fan email from Justin, who is following the blog tonight: "With a 41-0 lead, do you leave Landry Jones in?" It's an interesting question considering the Sooners may want to redshirt true freshman Drew Allen, the only other scholarship quarterback on the roster. OU's other options are walk-ons John Nimmo and Ben Sherrard. Merv guesses on the radio broadcast that Drew Allen and Nimmo may come into the game at some point.

7:56 p.m. | Lull in the Game Video
Media Relations' David Bassity returns with one of our favorite features for our blog. With lots of puddles starting to form on the field, let's hope Toby Rowland doesn't fall into one like this reporter. It's Rowland's first game as sideline reporter here in Norman:

VideoUnlucky Reporter Goes Into the Water

7:48 p.m. | Quick Shot of AD
Have you seen Adrian Peterson's latest commercials for Nike and Monday Night Football? Pretty cool:

VideoA.D. Nike Commercial | A.D. for Monday Night Football

7:45 p.m. | Halftime Stars
WR Ryan Broyles: 7 catches, 155 yards, 3 TDs (all career highs)
QB Landry Jones: 12-of-19 for 235 yards, 3 TDs and no INTs.
LB Travis Lewis: 8 total tackles, 3 TFL, 1 forced fumble

7:44 p.m. | More Broyles
Broyles' 126 receiving yards in the first quarter marked the third-most ever by an OU receiver in a single quarter. The sophomore's 155 total receiving yards in the first half marked the fourth-most all-time by an OU receiver in any half. Broyles' seven catches in the first half marked the fourth-most ever by a Sooner in any half.

7:38 p.m. | Rotation
David King and R.J. Washington are in at defensive end for the Sooners as Oklahoma is rotating in players here just before halftime.

7:35 p.m. | DeMarco Scores
Oklahoma drives 41 yards in nine plays and DeMarco Murray darts in for his first touchdown of the 2009 season. It's 41-0, OU.

7:30 p.m. | Throwing On Move
How impressive is Landry Jones rolling out? We shouldn't be too surprised. Jones was well-known as a dual-threat QB in high school at Artesia (New Mexico). He was a second-team multi-purpose high school All-American in leading his team to back-to-back state titles in 2006 and 2007.

7:23 p.m. | Brown Moving Up
With that last touchdown run, Chris Brown now has 36 career TDs, moving him into a tie for ninth all-time in total scores (not just rushing) in school history with Tommy McDonald (1954-56).

7:21 p.m. | Showing Support
Despite the dismal conditions, the big Sooner crowd is hanging tough. Bob Barry and Merv Johnson have mentioned the impressive crowd several times in their broadcast.

7:19 p.m. | Around the Big 12
With the Sooners rolling in the second quarter, a couple other Big 12 teams are struggling in their games. Bowling Green is currently up 13-3 on Missouri in the second quarter and Louisiana-Lafayette is leading Kansas State, 7-2. Kansas leads UTEP, 3-0 late in the first quarter and Texas Tech is up 14-3 on Rice.

7:18 p.m. | The Line
Quick rundown on OU's offensive line on this scoring drive: left tackle is Trent Williams, left guard Brian Simmons, center Ben Habern, right guard Tyler Evans and right tackle is Jarvis Jones.

7:14 p.m. | Quick Thinking by CB
The snap rolled on the field but senior running back Chris Brown grabbed it and took off. If you aren't watching the game on TV, the rain is absolutely torrential here at the stadium.

7:10 p.m. | Fumble Bengals
Travis Lewis ripped the ball from the ISU runner and redshirt-freshman defensive tackle Casey Walker dropped on it for the recovery. Merv Johnson reported on OU's radio broadcast that the coaches have been impressed by the speedy DT from Garland, Texas. The play was just reviewed (No. 5) and confirmed.

7:06 p.m. | Boom Goes Broyles
If you've been sleeping, Norman native Ryan Broyles is tearing it up. Broyles' 126 receiving yards in the first quarter marked the third most ever by an OU receiver in a single quarter.

7:04 p.m. | Big Quarter for Jones
Landry Jones' 140 yards passing in the first quarter tied for the third most in school history by a freshman in an opening period.

7:01 p.m. | Broyles, Again
What a pretty pass from Landry and a gorgeous catch from Broyles in the northeast corner of Owen Field's end zone. It's under review (fourth of the evening) but it looked like a score -- just on style points alone. OK, it's a score. Touchdown Sooners.

6:59 p.m. | Comfort Zone
Landry Jones has already displayed his all-around ability to run OU's offense. Short passes, long passes, running to the right and left -- Jones looks comfortable on Owen Field directing the Sooners.

6:57 p.m. | Career Night for Broyles?
Still in the first quarter, Ryan Broyles is already closing in a career game. He currently has four catches for 126 yards (31.5 ypc) with two touchdowns. His career high for yards in a game was 141 in his OU debut last season against Washington.

6:51 p.m. | GK Filling Up Stat Sheet
Sooner fans already know Gerald McCoy is a valuable commodity, but he's making sure the rest of the nation takes notice as well with a huge start to the 2009 season. McCoy had four tackles for loss last week vs. BYU and now has a sack and forced fumble tonight. He's also OU's most durable player. With Sam Bradford out of the lineup tonight, McCoy now has longest streak of consecutive starts on the team with 29.

6:49 p.m. | 51 Yards to Broyles
A perfect 51-yard pass from Landry Jones to Ryan Broyles for Oklahoma's third score of the game.

6:47 p.m. | Conditions Deteriorating
Toby Rowland on the sideline just reported on the Sooner Sports Radio Network that the conditions are worsening on the field as the rain gets heavier. The players are obviously having some trouble holding onto the ball. We've had three video reviews by the officials already in the first quarter.

6:40 p.m. | McCoy, Alexander
"Monster in the Middle" Gerald McCoy forces a huge sack and fumble on ISU's quarterback and Frank Alexander recovers in the end zone for the score. OU 14, Idaho State 0.

6:36 p.m. | Nice Punt Tress
Anyone else notice how well Tress Way is punting this season?

6:36 p.m. | Intro Video Note II
The camera used to film the intro video (Sony F900) was the same model used by George Lucas to film Star Wars: Episode II. SoonerVision used a "jib" -- basically, a camera attached to the end of a robotic arm -- to capture the panning shots of Travis Lewis, Ryan Broyles and Mossis Madu. OU's 2009 intro video series required six days of shooting plus a month of visual effects creation and editing.

6:33 p.m. | First Starts
From Mitch Heckart and OU Athletics Media Relations in the press box: Five Sooners made their first career start on offense versus Idaho State. First-time starters were true freshman Tyler Evans (RG), redshirt freshman Landry Jones (QB), sophomores Stephen Good (LG) and Ben Habern (C) and junior Cameron Kenney (WR).

6:32 p.m. | NFL Bengals
Believe it or not, Idaho State has been fairly successful at producing NFL talent. The Bengals currently has five alums playing at the next level, most notably, Jared Allen of the Minnesota Vikings. Matt Gutierrez (Chiefs), Jeff Charleston (Saints), Evan Dietrich-Smith (Packers) and Pago Togafu (Cardinals) are the others.

6:27 p.m. | Jones to Broyles
Pretty throw on a rollout from Landry Jones to Ryan Broyles for the first score of the 2009 season for the Sooners at Owen Field. The score marked Jones' first career TD pass. Ryan Broyles now has both Sooner touchdowns of the young season.

6:22 p.m. | Forward Progress
Although it appeared that the Sooner defense had pushed the Bengals back into the end zone for a safety, the ball was marked on the one for forward progress. ISU's punter was a preseason first-team FCS All-American (a fact you would know since you read the Sooner Scouting Report earlier in the week.)

6:22 p.m. | Bengals Hold
Idaho State denied the Sooners on fourth-and-goal and OU gives up the football on downs. The play is under review however.

6:19 p.m. | Intro Video
Tonight's intro video was produced in-house by SoonerVision for the first time with assistance from the OU School of Journalism and Visual Image. Video featuring current and former players was filmed at the Gaylord School of Journalism building -- located just across the street from the stadium. We had to travel a bit further for one Sooner however. Bears' defensive tackle and Sooner Lombardi Trophy winner Tommie Harris was filmed in the basement of his home in Chicago.

6:16 p.m. | Home Kickoff
Here's a photo of kickoff as the Sooners are underway in Norman:

6:09 p.m. | Pourin' in Norman
Sooner quarterback Landry Jones received the largest crowd reaction as opening lineups were announced to the crowd. The rain, reduced to a drizzle for much of pregame, picked up right before kickoff. Regardless, we're underway here in Norman.

6:06 p.m. | Congrats Coach Sumlin
Just a quick note that Houston head coach (and former Sooner assistant) Kevin Sumlin led his team to a 45-35 upset win in Stillwater against then-No. 5 Oklahoma State.

5:49 p.m. | Sooner Faithful
A few quick pics of the crowd at Memorial Stadium from about a half-hour prior to kickoff:

5:32 p.m. | It's Football Time in Oklahoma!

The famous words of PA announcer Jim Miller just resounded over the loudspeakers. Still 30 minutes before game time, Oklahoma fans are already showing up strong despite the soggy weather. We're stuck inside to keep our equipment dry, so while we're here we figured we might as well give you a behind-the-scenes look at the new SoonerVision control room where the video boards and ribbon boards are operated during the game:

5:24 p.m. | Opponent Trivia

For anyone out there wondering where in the world is Idaho State, it is located in Pocatello, Idaho. Pocatello is the fourth-largest city in the state, but its population is still only around 52,000 people. That means if the entire city congregated in Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, there would still be 30,000 empty seats.

5:11 p.m. | Fear the 'Stache

Here's a quick pic of the OU students showing support for Sooner quarterback Landy Jones prior to kickoff here in Norman:

Landry Jones

4:42 p.m. | Students Ready to Roll
Just checked in down on the field and the OU student section is already half-full with an enthusiastic contingent of students eagerly anticipating their first look at the 2009 Sooners. Our favorite show of support so far was a group wearing "Fear the 'Stache" T-shirts in honor of QB Landry Jones, who made his college debut last Saturday against BYU and will start today's game against the Bengals.

4:11 p.m. | Ponchos Aplenty

As we pulled up to the stadium this afternoon, ponchos were a common sight with rain falling steadily in Norman. If the wet weather continues during the game, we will have to move from our usual post behind the Sooner bench to an indoor location protected from the elements. Either way, we will continue to provide live updates from the stadium throughout the night so stay tuned.

1:03 p.m. | Wet Weather

Rain is probable for tonight's game at Memorial Stadium. View the latest radar from the National Weather Center Forecast Office in Norman. Remember, umbrellas are not permitted inside the stadium.
