NORMAN, Okla. – Former University of Oklahoma gymnast Russell Czeschin has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America second team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Tuesday.

Czeschin joined Oklahoma women's gymnast Haley DeProspero on the All-District VI first team last month.

Czeschin received OU's 2009 Outstanding Sooner Scholar Athlete Award, given to a student athlete with best academic and athletic performance. He was one of a record 117 OU student-athletes to graduate during the current academic year, walking in May with a degree in Health and Exercise Science after posting a cumulative GPA of 3.78.

A key member of two national championship teams, Czeschin completed his eligibility by earning two All-America honors by posting scores of 15.500 on floor and 15.775 on vault at the 2009 NCAA Championships. It marked his third-straight All-America honor on floor and the first of his career on vault.
