NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma Track and Field program added three at-large entries for the NCAA Championships as the NCAA announced its at-large selections Tuesday to give the OU program 11 total entries for next week's event. While the Sooners added three at-large entries, the pool of Oklahoma athletes competing in the event did not increase as all three at-large spots were represented by athletes already automatically qualified in separate events.
Will Claye was added as an at-large athlete in the long jump, an event he is ranked 12th in, having already qualified in the triple jump as the nation's top athlete in the event. Scottesha Miller and Mookie Salaam were each added as at-large selections in the 100-meter dash after automatically qualifying in the 200-meter dash at the NCAA Midwest Regional Saturday in Norman. The two are each ranked 17th in their respective divisions.
The three represent six of Oklahoma's 11 entries in the event on the campus of the University of Arkansas and will be joined by Luke Bryant (discus), Leslie Cole (400-meter dash), Mikaela Johansson (hammer throw), Ti'Anca Mock (long jump) and the women's 4x100-meter relay consisting of Sherine Wells, Miller, Cole and Mock.
