IRVINE, Calif. — Oklahoma Track and Field action wrapped up late Saturday night at two different locations in California as the program's jumpers competed at the Steve Scott Invitational in Irvine, Calif., and the men's distance group was at the Peyton Jordan Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. The jumpers in Irvine were able to leap to three NCAA Regional qualifying marks in the long jump during the first of two days of competition.
Freshman Will Claye finished second in the long jump with a regional qualifying distance of 25-1.75 (7.66). Claye wasn't the only freshman to eclipse the regional qualifying distance however as Alex Madkins accomplished the feat en route to a fourth-place finish. Madkins' top jump of 24-5.00 (7.44) marked the second time this year that Midwest City, Okla., native has crossed the regional threshold.
The two will be joined on the regional qualifiers list by junior Neelon Greenwood who also accomplished the feat Saturday with a top jump of 24-3.50 (7.40) to finish fifth overall.
