Best in the Big 12, Hands Down
May 19, 2009 | Athletics
NORMAN, Okla. -- When it comes to Big 12 award winners, no other school even comes close.
With J.T. Wise's selection as baseball's Big 12 Player of the Year on Tuesday, seven Oklahoma student-athletes have now claimed conference player of the year honors in 2008-09. In addition, four OU freshmen have been named the top newcomers in their respective sports and three OU coaches have been recognized as the best in the Big 12.
If that's not enough, Oklahoma is the only program in the nation to produce the Heisman Trophy winner and Naismith Trophy winner in the same academic year. It truly has been an unprecedented string of success. Congratulations to all of our award winners.
