OU Hosts Big 12 Tennis Tourney

NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma hosts the 2009 Big 12 Men's and Women's Tennis Championships at the Headington Family Tennis Center this week.

The women's championship begins Thursday, April 23, with preliminary matches at 10 a.m. The men's championship begins Friday, April 24, at 9 a.m. with the quarterfinal rounds.

All-session tickets are now available for the 2009 Big 12 Tennis Championships. Fans may purchase tickets online or by calling the OU Athletics Ticket Office at (405) 325-2424 or toll-free at (800) 456-GoOU.

Big 12 Tennis Championships Central

Throughout the Big 12 Championships, fans can visit the Fan Interactive Area, which will include games, a sign-making station and a giveaway table. Fans can also test their skills by participating in the Nintendo Wii tennis booth.

Special Olympics Oklahoma will also be on site with information and giveaways for fans.

Concessions will be available throughout the tournament.

The Big 12 Championships return to Norman for the second time in conference history, with OU last hosting the event in 2004.

Oklahoma's Headington Family Tennis Center is one of the top facilities in the Big 12 Conference and the nation. The complex was completed in 2001 through generous donations from the Headington family and others.

The facility spans 12 championship courts divided into four quadrants. There have been several additions to the facility including a sound system, electronic scoreboards and benches on all 12 courts.

In addition to two Big 12 Championships, the facility hosted the 2003 and 2004 NCAA Tennis Regional Championships.

Session 1 is on April 23, Session 2 on April 24, Session 3 on April 25 and Session 4 on April 26.

An all-session ticket consists of a ticket for all four sessions. All tickets are good for general admission access for the whole day. Single-session tickets will be made available at the event on the first day of competition.
