TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of Oklahoma men's golf squad stands eighth after 36 holes of the ASU Thunderbird Invitational in Tempe, Ariz.  The Sooners fired rounds of 287 (+3) and 292 (+8) on Friday at the par-71, 7057-yard ASU Karsten Golf Course, besting five squads ranked in the latest Golfstat top-40 through two rounds.

Paving the way was Eric Durbin who stands seventh at -1 after rounds of 70 and 71.  Opening his second round on the par-4 15th, Durbin jumped to 4-under on the day after birdies at the 17th, 1st and 2nd before playing his final 11 holes at +3.  The Houston, Texas, native carded 11 birdies through the first two rounds. 

Standing 35th was Ryan Sirman, who followed up a first-round 70 with a 75 on Friday afternoon.  A stoke back at +4 is Chris Wilson (T42nd) who carded back-to-back 73s on the opening day. 

Rounding out the Oklahoma scoring was Liam Logan (74-73) in a share of 50th and Ben Blundell (74-75) in a tie for 67th.

Tournament host Arizona State holds the overnight lead at -9, seven shots better than second-place Denver.  Cameron Edens, competing for the ASU “B” squad, leads all golfers through 36 holes after rounds of 71 and 66.
