Daescu Continues to Roll

Sooners Host San Diego

NORMAN, Okla. -- The 48th-ranked University of Oklahoma men's tennis team (6-4) hosts 63rd-ranked University of San Diego, March 6, at 4 p.m. inside the Gregg Wadley Indoor Tennis Pavilion.

The Sooners return to Norman after dropping their Big 12 opener Wednesday to the No. 12 Baylor Bears in Waco, 6-1. The Sooners are a perfect 2-0 inside the Gregg Wadley, defeating 43rd-ranked TCU and No. 67 Pacific University.

Junior Andrei Daescu, ranked the 97th in singles player in the country, leads the Sooners against the Toreros. Daescu has manned the No. 1 position for the majority of the spring and possesses a 6-4 record.

Freshman George Chanturia and sophomore Ionut Beleleu each boast eight wins on the spring season.

Sophomore David Pultr continues to prove he can handle any position the coaching staff asks him to play. Pultr, 7-3 this spring, has played the 2 through 6 positions for the Sooners.

Following OU's match against San Diego the Sooners depart for Montgomery, Ala., to compete in the Blue-Gray Tennis Classic. The tournament runs from March (19-22). Times and opponents will be available as soon as they are determined.

OU's next home match is March 27, when the Sooners take on No. 36 Texas A&M. Concluding its match with A&M OU will host third-ranked Texas and 34th-ranked Rice before heading on the road to battle 41st-ranked Nebraska.
