SAN MARTIN, Calif. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf squad fired a tournament-opening team score of 368 (+8) and stands tied for 11th after the first round of the Gifford Collegiate Championship at CordeValle on Monday in San Martin, Calif.

Individually, the Sooners were paced by Tyler Rody's 3-under-par 69.  The Andover, Kan., senior heads to Tuesday's second round in a share of ninth, just two shots off the lead of UCLA's Pedro Figueiredo and Augusta State's Taylor Floyd.  Rody offset bogeys at the seventh and 14th with birdies at No. 8, No. 11, No. 13, No. 15 and No. 18.

Fellow senior Ben Blundell carded a 73 and is currently tied for 41st at +1.  The Rowlett, Texas, native was -3 through six holes before a double-bogey at the par-4 eighth and back-to-back bogeys starting at No. 14. 

Ryan Sirman picked up three shots with a birdie-eagle finish and stands T50th at +2.

Rounding out the OU team scoring were Nathan Chambers (3-over-par 75), Chris Wilson (5-over-par 77) and Cole Wiederkehr (6-over-par 78).  Chambers is currently in a tie for 60th, while Wilson and Wiederkehr stand T70th and T77th, respectively.

The tournament format counts the lowest five scores towards the team tally from the six-man lineup.

Duke holds the overnight team lead at -10.  The Blue Devils are two shots clear of Lamar and Oklahoma State.
