Head Coach Sherri Coale
On senior center Abi Olajuwon:
“She was fantastic. I think that she felt comfortable tonight and I think that she got a chance to she the defense and what she could take advantage of. I like the fact that at halftime we told her score every basket you go to your left and because we talked about that she turned to her right and scored. I like that focus and concentration.”

On sophomore guard Whitney Hand:
“She typically is going to shoot a lot better than this and she is the type of kid that is not going to back away from a game. If the first shot doesn't go in, she will find a way to get it whether it is an offensive rebound, steal, assist or getting to the free throw line. She is going to find a way to get back in even when the shots are not going in.”

 On regular season opener:
“We don't have a lot to prepare for based on film because we have last years to go off of. We try to clean up some things we need to work on. Obviously tonight we were changing defenses a lot and I think that we are better at that than we were with Rogers State but will still need to clean it up and we have to be able to do that to keep people off-balance. As we prepare for the weekend our rebounding is going to get a whole lot better. We are not doing a good job offensively crashing the boards and sealing up block-outs. We have to do a better job of rebounding against bigger, stronger teams that we will be facing in the future.”

On the development of the freshmen:
“I thought that both of them played under control and were more confident. They were stronger with the basketball and we will need them to make contributions defensively around the block and by rebounding. Both of those guys will be just fine. They took a good step tonight and will take another next game.”

Junior Guard Danielle Robinson
On her 3-pointer:
“Yes, I was pretty set. I wanted to make sure it went in so I took my time. “

On Abi Olajuwon's improvement:
“I definitely see improvement and I have seen it the last three years  in practice and when Abi wants to score, Abi will score.  When she is posting on a player and not a place it is definitely her strong point and when she does that she is going to score.”

Senior Center Abi Olajuwon
On her focus:
“Me and coach just talked about me focusing on one thing and for me it was running and posting up on the man and not posting up on a place, but finding someone and getting position on them. It's funny because when you have guys that are huge and you don't miss them. So you are like, 'Okay I have got to get that big guy,' but in this game they were smaller but she said to go post on them. In the Big 12 I won't always have that blessing.”

On posting fundamentals:
“Well, honestly, I front the player. I don't turn around and look for jump shots. I mainly play with my back to the basket so I have to find the position. If that man is under the basket that gives me an easy opportunity to make a lay-up. It's just about getting good angels and position and doing what I can do.”

On mentality tonight:
“To enjoy tonight and not stress too much. Focus on defense. I mean we watched a lot of film and the coaches have really got on us to focus on certain things and really learn from each game. Just focusing on things I didn't do against Rogers State and trying to do them against (Oklahoma Christian).”
