OU Golf Stands 12th at CordeValle

SAN MARTIN, Calif. – The OU men's golf team stands 12th after 36 holes of the Gifford Collegiate Championship at CordeValle in San Martin, Calif. The Sooners carded a second-round team score of 364 (+4) on Tuesday, a four-shot improvement from Monday's team tally.
Ben Blundell and Nathan Chambers both fired even-par 72s on Tuesday to pace Oklahoma. Blundell offset bogeys at No. 6, No. 9 and No. 14 with birdies at the seventh, 11th and 13th. Chambers was three-over through seven holes after a triple-bogey at the par-3 16th (started on the back nine), but returned to level par on the round with birdies at No. 18, No. 8 and No. 9.
Blundell and Chambers head to Wednesday's final round in T37th (+1) and T52nd (+3), respectively.
Tyler Rody backed up a tournament-opening 69 with a 1-over-par 73 on Tuesday and stands T19th at -2. The Andover, Kan., product was two-under at the turn after an eagle at No. 15 and a birdie at the 18th, but carded three bogeys on the front nine – his final nine holes of the round.
Ryan Sirman matched Rody's round of 73 on Tuesday after a tournament-opening 74 and shares 52nd with Chambers through 36 holes. Sirman birdied the par-4 10th – his first hole of the round, before falling to +2 on the day after a seven at the par-4 11th. Sirman offset a pair of bogeys at No. 1 and No. 3 with birdies at the 18th, second and eighth holes.
Rounding out the OU scoring were Chris Wilson (77-74) and Cole Weiderkehr (78-77). Wilson heads to Wednesday's play in a tie for 76th, while Weiderkehr stands 85th.
