IRVING, Texas -- Oklahoma junior Danielle Robinson was named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Women's Basketball Team, released by the conference office Wednesday.

The team was based by vote of the league's coaches.  Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.

Robinson was an All-Big 12 First Team selection in 2009 and was the league's freshman of the year in 2008.

Joining Robinson on the squad are Kelsey Griffin (Nebraska), Andrea Riley (Oklahoma State), Brittainey Raven (Texas) and Danielle McCray (Kansas).

McCray was named the Preseason Player of the Year.  Texas A&M's Danielle Adams was chosen as Preseason Newcomer of the Year and Baylor's Brittney Griner was selected freshman of the year.

OU sophomore guard Whitney Hand was one of five Big 12 players to receive honorable mention, along with Griner, Alison Lacey (Iowa State), Ashley Sweat (Kansas State) and Tanisha Smith (Texas A&M).

Oklahoma begins its season at the Lloyd Noble Center Nov. 13 versus Mercer.  The Sooners will also hold an open scrimmage Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. and play two exhibition games, Nov. 4 against Rogers State and Nov. 10 versus Oklahoma Christian, during its preseason tune-up.
