NORMAN, Okla. -- NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma track & field program is preparing to host its first meet of the 2009 season with the ninth annual J.D. Martin Invitational on Saturday inside the Mosier Indoor Center. The meet will feature twelve teams along with a number of unattached athletes in competition beginning at 10 a.m.

The meet, named after legendary OU head coach J.D. Martin, will see the host Sooners take on an array of teams including in-state rivals Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts and Tulsa along with ACC challenger Georgia Tech. The event is slated to begin at 10 a.m. with the men's long jump and the B section of the women's mile. The last event, the men's mile relay, is scheduled to run at 5 p.m.

OU is coming off a successful weekend that saw Ti'Anca Mock (long jump), Mikaela Johansson (weight throw) and K.P. Singh (weight throw) all break program records as OU student-athletes combined for one NCAA automatic qualifying mark and 10 provisional qualifying marks. In action at the Razorback and Oklahoma Christian Invitationals, OU athletes accounted for 15 top-three finishes throughout the weekend.
