NORMAN, Okla. – The defending Big 12 Champion Oklahoma women's gymnastics squad returned to campus Monday for the start of the fall semester.
After attending classes this morning, the team met in the new Becky Switzer team room at the Sam Viersen Gymnastics Center, highlighting goals and expectations for the 2008-09 season.
The Sooners welcome back 11 members from last season's group that clinched OU's first Big 12 title since 2004, after carding an undefeated regular season. Oklahoma placed eighth at the '08 NCAA Championships – tying a program best.
Joining the Sooner program are freshmen Megan Ferguson, Natasha Kelley, Sara Stone and Hailey Wagner.
The team will participate in conditioning drills and voluntary workouts until the start of official practice on Sept. 22.
A halftime ring ceremony in commemoration of last year's Big 12 Championship squad is scheduled for the TCU football game on Sept. 27.
